The big difference is in what people consider "shooting". I know a lot of people that sit in a chair with a table and just scope shoot far targets. They will spend 8 hours doing that under an easy up. thats fine.

I prefer to mooch as much as I can from courses I've taken. Which is not practical in swim shorts and flip flops. Prone in the dirt, running, rifle to pistol transition.... I dont want to walk back to my truck every time a mag goes dry.

I do like the occassional .22/skeet day. But most of my firearms were not purchased for pleasure, hunting, collecting or novelty. I like to train with them in the manner they were designed. Unfortunatley, I gotta get a bit tacticool with them.

Look at the boobs I'm shooting with VVVV How mnuch you figure they learned that day?

I'm not going to lie, those gloves make you look like a Beverly Hills Cop Villain. I want some...

What makes me laugh is the school tactically trained hero, that's never did anything more uncomfortable then a 3 or 4 day carbine class, never spent a day in a third world ***t hole. But likes to tell everyone how cool he is, because he has taken advanced handgun at such n such. But at least the guys who actually lived it are making a crap load of money off the wanna be's and I think that is a lot of it. Dress the part and some fool who never served but spends 10 hours a day playing call of duty on his xbox, will hand over lots of cash, so he can be as cool as his instructor.
Which describes perfectly almost everyone supporting the "operator" video.

Seriously. I don't even own a plate carrier or any type of harness or belt or anything, though I do plan to pick something up in the future. As I said, I'm willing to bet guys like the ones in the video I posted could out shoot anyone on here calling them out. I'd also like to see those calling them out run a mile, but what can we do.

you're getting off the point. the point is it's weird to wear all the **** to a standing range. I could even understand if he was running CQB drills or movement drills, really anything other than standing still and shooting or doing product reviews.

I agree with you 100% on that. You can't practice how you fight on a static range.

Who said anything about standing/static ranges?

                    From the OP:

I can understand if you are actually a Gov agency or Active duty to be in uniform/BDU's but for private ranges and these "Tactical Solutions" companies to wear this stuff.. How do you not feel awkward putting on BDU's and gear during the entire 20 min your gearing up to do a standard range day??

I used the same source that you used to make the generalization here:

I bet the guys in this video shoot better than 99% of Calgunners, but the fat members here who couldn't last a day wearing full kit are going to call them out as posers.

And? How do you know what he was doing at the range? You saw a three minute video of him demonstrating a device.

Actually that's exactly who I was referring to, again I'm just light hearted stereotyping new age mall ninjas aka "operators", who gear up to look like the people who do this for a living. Yes even trainers don't need chest rigs and speed gear during 99% of their teachings/videos. But like someone said on this page it sells, so they wear their newest pair of BDU's and 5.11 chest rigs and teach with them. But as it always comes up train how you play yada yada yada and we all know 98.9% of guys at our ranges and in these videos have nothing to train for besides making youtube videos and looking the part.

Again I've seen the pros, ACTUAL navy SEALS, ICE agents and many other high end forces that these people are "training" or "training to be" and during their range days, the people who actually do this don't wear all that crap but all of 5% of the time. To be semi familiar with the gear they run. But the rest of the 95% they train they are in cam/5.11 pants and a standard cotton or under armor T short. Usually extra tight. He'll half the time they hate that they have to wear that basic gear and go train lol

So it makes me chuckle when people tell me the real people do this, when no they don't. The instructors on youtube and public range wanna he's do. They just see that in Hollywood and know people junk it's cool so they do it. As far as someone above saying were calling them out. That's not the case. Just giggling wearing full turn out gear to a calm controled environment and like mall ninjas of 2000- 2008 have all sorts of excuses why it's needed and their guns and gear must be that way for "training" purposes. It's an act, a play. Were just calling it for what it is.
