I think everyone who experiences such terrible negligence should mention the range they are at. Sure **** can happen at any range, but some ranges we already know tend to have more issues like this than others, and it helps the rest of us to know which ranges to avoid.
Targetmasters tends to be one of those ranges that have issues with negligence by some of the people who go there, particularly the rental crowd. I don't know what it is, it just seems to attract the element that should have a close eye kept on them and their range staff leaves much to be desired in terms of watching what people are doing there.
The last time I shot there I watched a family of three with a rented Glock keep having problems with it jamming (big shock since they barely clean their guns at all) and when it jammed every few shots they would ALL put their hands on the gun while it was still loaded and attempt to fix it together.
I have never seen anything so ridiculous and stupid at a range as that. It kept going on for about 15-20 minutes or so and I just packed up and left. Prior to that I have observed other people just having a piss poor amount of respect for the guns they were using. By and large they were all rental customers, you could tell because they've got those shopping baskets.
Since then I shoot at Reed's and it's much nicer in both clientele and in range supervision. As for outdoor ranges, I have found both Sunnyvale Rod and Gun and Los Altos Rod and Gun to both have good clientele and attentive range supervision. Chabot has good range supervision but every time I have gone there I have seen at least a couple of morons but to Chabot's credit they see them and correct them.
I have heard it said that if you must shoot at Targetmasters to go during the day, before the evening, and it's not as bad. I'm not going to find out for myself though, I will not set foot back in that store again. Bad DROS experiences, lousy staff, lousy customer service, and what I consider to be a risky and possibly neglected range all add up to it being not worth it.
It's too bad too because they can have a decent selection and prices, but hell, when they want to write all your info down off your CDL just to buy a bore brush that's the cherry on top of the **** cake.-POLICESTATE,

what are you? Sergeant Commie from the bay area?irrelevant. The purpose of the story was to tell us how he almost got shot in the foot, not give you the finer details of the other shooter, whether he was left handed, had long hair, wearing sandals, shooting bullseye or zombie targets, and incidentally every little tiny step he followed right before almost shooting our poster in the foot.

OP, glad to hear you're ok. I've seen the stupidity at ranges and cringe at the stories, including my own. Nothing says fun like posting a target and turning around to see some yahoo loading/chambering a round on his rifle while it's pointing directly at you. With that said, wish me and some fellow Calgunners luck, we are meeting at Angeles tomorrow AM (all are invited). With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.

Then you would go to jail, be prosecuted for battery and lose your right to own guns in California for ten years. And if that weren't enough, you will almost certainly be sued in civil court and have to pay punitive damages.I wouldve had to beat him!
