If it helps any? Negligent discharges happen in combat in perimeter watch in barracks and at ranges. The only way to remove them is not let human beings have guns. Some of the safest people around guns I have ever met are ones that have had a negligent discharge.

          Just an old guys observation.

Based on what I've seen, I'm more fearful of being shot at the range than randomly on the street. IMO, no reason to take a break, but a good reason to invest in a membership to a private range, or find a secluded piece of BLM land.

Typical Glock owner ... Simple person was sold what he was told was a "simple gun". "Simple people" are attracted to "simple guns" and clearly make a bad combination.

Public ranges are high risk locations.

Great advice. My private club, West End Gun Club is in the process I think of changing its by-laws to make it far easier to expel unsafe members.

I shot exclusively on BLM land in the desert for many years until just this summer when I decided to go back to a local range due to the high cost of fuel and time involved to get out to my desert shooting spots.

I'm not familiar with any BLM areas near you, but I'd suggest at least looking into it.
Even Blm lands are dangerous especially weekends. Yesterday someone got shot at the BLm lands in Perris From an apparent ricochet. I was there today myself and seen a group of people shooting a fridge. I don't know how some one shooting a fridge from 50 ft away can walk away feeling good about them selves but those are some of the type of people that one has to deal with on public land.
Old problems are like dry poop, if you let the dry poop sit it doesn't smell but the minute you decide to stir the poop with a stick, the smell comes back. Moral of the story, Don't bring up old problems!

More proof we need mandatory firearm safety training before a person can buy a gun.

Had the same exact thing happen to me once when I was about 13. Luckily the only thing that was killed was the guy's microwave. (For clarification the guy with the gun was an adult about 40 years old)

                          Wow, glad you're okay!

                          Dumba**: wow, I'm really sorry!
                          You: face or gut?
                          Dumba**: uh...what?
You: simple question, do you want me to hit you in the face or the gut? Cause if I get to choose, you ain't gonna be able to have any children.

                          And what range was it?
                          Sorry, not sorry.

I watch everyone at the range. Especially those at public ranges where an RM is not physically present at all times. I had one individual open up on their target on a cold range while I was down checking my target. Watched another guy pick up his weapon, load the magazine, rack a round, while the whole time pointing it at another individual that was downrange at his target while the range was cold. Then there was the joker that was standing next to me with a loaded handgun while muzzling his girlfriend, me, and everyone else on the line. I have no hesitation to cuss people out for their dangerous stupidity. And/or get the range master to kick them off the range.

I think you just need to stay away from public ranges.
These things don't seem to happen at private ranges...

Just another example of why I only shoot a private ranges and why I don't shoot with squids.
