Beyond bragging rights and additional recognition at NRA events, there are no specific individual benefits. (I think patron also receives a quarterly news letter). More importantly, every dollar from California stays in California, so not only are you supporting the largest gun-rights organization in the country, you're directly contributing to the fight for your rights in CA. Also you get more spam, lol! |

It's great to get a life long membership for $600 but how much of those funds you paid for are going to the area that you expect it to be expensed to? Legal challenges etc. My only disappointment was on the amount of mail I received after joining. I think the funds could be better spent elsewhere than sending me so much mail to sign up for Lifelock, life insurance and such.

Membership dues go to promoting NRA membership and educational efforts (still worthy causes). Membership carries the legislative benefit primarily in giving lobbyists the ability to state "My name is Bob, I represent the NRA and our 15 million members, 1800 of which are voters from your district" NRA-ILA is the legislative action arm and is funded separately. Their primary force in California is the CRPA.

The lady said I get a bag and a knife! She also said don't wait by the mail box, it will take a while.

Why the NRA hate? They have incredible education programs for new shooters and kids. They sponsor competitions. They lobby on our behalf. Their website has the latest up to date information on legislation, lawsuits, and appeals. They offer reviews on the latest products and services.
I donate as often as I can. They have my representative contact information and also have direct email links to contact senators, etc. I also call my local and national elected officials.

I'm not an existing member. I called and they couldn't answer my question on why payment options were not showing up but offered to take my membership over the phone.

NRA member discounts - $600 Life
Naw, It's not an NRA bashing thread - he's just one sad lonely individual who doesn't understand what the NRA is and does for all of us. I for one am proud to be a life member (and then some) and even though they may not be perfect, I can't think of a single organization with more clout to hold the antis at bay. |

NRA-ILA donations stay in CA. Membership dues do not go to lobbying efforts, as that is a separate legal entity for multiple reasons. Membership dues support educational efforts.
