I have found the internet is NOT a place to post trying to garner sympathy lol just saying are abundant.

And I was referring to adults, meaning grown ups. My electrician is 30 something, and is sleeved. HE knows that this impacts on how others view him.
I also KNOW that. Its another thing I dont think its right, but its whatever. When people get to know me, they think something totally different and re-consider their initial judgements.

That is an extremely naive statement.

Let me also ask you. If you see a person with an area code tattooed on their neck, does that provoke any thoughts?

Why don't you take a page out of the sluts' book and get all your homies together and have a parade where you wave signs that say "stop thug shaming!"

Then come back and cry some more when it is ill-received.
What? I take it offensively that you included "homies" and "thug" in this. I feel as if youre directing it towards me.

Ok so here you are admitting that you know that people may assume something negative. So knowing that, why did you get tatted up? Because you wanted to look tough. So don't cry when it works.

Wait, no! He said the world moved on! Finally people will stop assuming I'm not a millionaire just because I drive a crappy car and don't have designer clothes. Phew! Glad that's over. Now that the world has moved on, I can fit in better in Los Gatos when I go to that pastry shop I like. I thought I was going to be hopelessly lower-middle class forever!

That's why I have a CGN sticker on my car...

Stuff like this happens. The best thing you can do is get over it and find someone else to take your money. I have tattoos, I am black, but nobody has perceived me as a thug, as far as I know, in my entire life. I'm not saying what he did was right, but I do like the fact that he wanted to be sure the ammo he was selling wasn't going to a gang member.

And for God's sake man, stop wearing sweatpants in public! I don't even think i own a pair of sweatpants.

If you don't understand that this makes you REALLY look like a gang member, than you are far far more naive that I previously could imagine.

You're wasting your time asking this on this forum. The responses you've gotten so far are enough evidence of that. If you took all the bigots and racists off Calguns, there'd probably be 10 people on here.

I agree with you, the guy was an ******* for treating you differently because of your appearance. I've had dudes in full cholo dress be the most polite, respectful customers where I've worked. I've had dudes with major gang tats stop and help me on the side of the road. When the power went out a few years back, I ended up stranded at a gas station with some tatted up, "thug looking" dudes who ended up sharing prison stories from when they were locked up - but they'd given that up and were fully employed now and really cool. I learned long ago not to judge people that way.

The Wall Street bankers screwed over this whole country, and they wear fancy suits every day. What do the members of Congress dress like, and how much immeasurable harm have they done?

Getting tatts has nothing to do with looking tough.. for most people. Youre very mislead about tattoos man.

                            OP,

I wished I lived such a shelter life that this would prompt me to rant about.

                            Life must be good.

Very true. The movies make it seem like California is such an easy place with open minded people.. this forum proves that theory to be false. There are a ton of closed minded people on here.. more than the average joe who doesnt hate the world for having tattoos or using medical marijuana or listen to rap music. Not saying I do all that, but ive seen a general distaste for those things on here.. which seems backwards to me considering this is a place for people demanding rights and hating gun control idiots.

A problem, a generational problem is that young people have been indoctrinated into thinking that NO judgment of any kind is acceptable in any circumstance. No generalizations are permitted.

It leaves them without any frame of reference. In the words of Dennis Praeger, they are stupider for it.
