    Discriminated against...

I wanted to share a recent experience I had buying ammo off of Armslist. I felt it needed to be shared.

Anywho, I contacted a guy selling a few hundred rounds of rimfire on Armslist. We exchanged a few emails, agreed on a price and time, etc. When we met up, the guy was a complete A-hole. Wanna know why? 'Cuz of my appearance. My tattoos im guessing in particular. The guy was looking me up and down, asking if im sure im legally able to buy ammo or own weapons, If I was buying for my gang.. all kinda crap. All because I have some ink on me, and possibly because im a minority, all though I hate to bring ethnicity into things, but there are still people unfortunately that see color lines.

None of my tatts are gang related, and my record is so clean you could eat off of it. Yes im young (ish), and yes im tattooed, and some middle aged people might consider me to have a "thuggish" look (I dont), but ppl shouldnt judge someone by their appearance. Its different if they are obviously a gang member or not in their right mind, but if you cant distinguish a young urban person with some tattoos from a criminal crazy gang member, maybe YOURE the one with the problem.

    Rant ended.

So how were you discriminated against?

It's OK for you think the other guy is an A-hole, but take exception to him (possibly) thinking the same about you?
"Did I say "republic?" By God, yes, I said "republic!" Long live the glorious republic of the United States of America. Damn democracy. It is a fraudulent term used, often by ignorant persons but no less often by intellectual fakers, to describe an infamous mixture of socialism, miscegenation, graft, confiscation of property and denial of personal rights to individuals whose virtuous principles make them offensive." - Westbrook Pegler

Yeah, you're right people SHOULDN'T judge a book by its cover, but they do. You even admit that some people might think you look "thuggish" and yet you get pissed off when they do?

The other guy is only part of the problem here.

Perhaps you didnt read the post, so Ill refresh you. The guy acted like I was some kind of criminal because I have tattoos and I was buying ammunition. Discrimination might not be the best word, because he was in no position of authority, but either way, its some form of bigotry. I was very polite the whole time, like I am with anyone. I treat others how Id wish to be treated.

Because I dont look thuggish. Im just saying that some idiotic people might get that impression for whatever close minded reason they have. Regardless of peoples personal stance on tattoos, they shouldnt act like all people with tatts are up to no good. There are police, military service members, doctors, paramedics, etc with tatts. When one of them saves their life or puts their own life on the line lets see how the tatts change an attitude then.

Perhaps it's not about your tattoos but your dress, if you dress and act like gang banger, people will most likely to label you as such

Sorry, but if you dress yourself up to look like a gang member, don't be at all surprised when you're treated like one. Has nothing to do with race, it would be the same with some white guy who dresses "thuggish."

If you don't want to be treated like a gang member, don't dress like one.

I don't judge people by race, but I always judge people by the way they dress. 9 times out of 10 your guesses about someone by the way they dress are spot on. If you're the 10th out of 10 where judging by the way you dress is wrong, then you should stop copying the other 9 actual thugs.

If you just have some tats, but were there dressed nice without your pants hanging off your ***, then maybe I've misunderstood your post.

People judge other by their appearance all the time.

Fact of life, that you should have figured out by now. In fact, it seems like you have, based on your use of the descriptive word "thuggish" in describing yourself.

Too bad you weren't this self aware before you chose to label yourself within society, by choosing to get "ink" (also your word).

Since you do look "thuggish" (again, your word), I'm glad that the seller was responsible enough to inquire as to your intentions. That, in my opinion, reflects well on the gun community.

I'm sure you'll agree that self-policing is good, wont you?

I read your post. That's not discrimination. Or bigotry. It's real life. Get used to it.

Yes, the guy does seem to have been making assumptions, or perhaps he was just showing his disapproval of your personal choices. There is nothing illegal or wrong about that. Just because you like something doesn't mean that everyone else has to like it as well.

Like I said, I dont dress or act thuggish or gang affiliated. I make it a point not to with all these young idiots running around killing people for wearing the wrong color in the wrong area.

He doesnt have to like it. But its wrong to assume someone is a criminal or is trying to buy your ammo to commit a crime based solely on appearance, and ill re-iterate, I wasnt dressed suspiciously or flamboyant or anything.

Ah, well I misunderstood. If he was judging you based on tats & race alone, then I'm with you.

Look I have tattoo and I am American (black kind) but when people see me they dont see a thug. I don't know how you dress but that can be a big part of it. At Iron Sights there are all kinds of tattoo'ed people there and some look and act like bangers and some look and act like gun lovers. Also I don't know how you came at the guy but that may be something also. The guy could just be a douche also. Lastly stop calling yourself a "minority" just call yourself an American!
The liberal see's the glass as half full and tries to take more.
The conservative see's glass as half empty and tries to keep it that way.
I'm with the people on the side just pouring water in the glass trying to get a drink!
