There are lots of people, particularly over a certain age (including myself), and of various socioeconomic groups (including myself), who can't shake the stereotype of tattoos from our youth. And that is that for the most part, people who have tattoos are criminals, or thugs, or some other dangerous sub-culture. If you are not aware of this, you must be really young.

Yes, I know that nowadays almost everyone under 30 has some tattoos, but it still doesn't change our initial reaction to them.

But thats not our fault. The world has moved on. You should too.

But IMO if you are tatted up you should expect this, like I said unless you are so young and naive as to simply be unaware that until very recently, this is how tattoos were generally perceived.

Let me ask you this. If you see a person with a neck tattoo, with say, an area code or name of a city, does that provoke any response?

The thread is about a guy with ink not liking how someone treated him. It should not come as a shock to ANY adult that some people are not going to like tattoos, unconventional hair coloring, style, piercings, and other body modification.

Uhm, you just did that because I never said that at all. Your interpretation of what you think I was saying is wrong. What I was trying to say is, god forbid someone else have any problem with what someone chooses to do with their OWN BODY.

What age adults are you referring to? If you mean middle aged, lets just say old people, of course they probably wont like it. But if ur talking 40 and under, chances are they probably have tatts themselves or kids with tatts. Hell, even my grandpa who is goin on 60 is considering getting his first tatt in the near future. Its not taboo anymore.

Tell you what, let's talk about this when you get old. Let's say 40. We can start with whether you feel old at that point.

And I was referring to adults, meaning grown ups. My electrician is 30 something, and is sleeved. HE knows that this impacts on how others view him.

Depends on alot of things. Age of the person, haircut, outfit, etc. Also, a city or area code shudnt automatically make u think "gang". I have an area code tattooed on me, and the name of my city 3 times, plus my region of the city, PLUS, the name of my state, plus the actual state itself, and a few references to the west coast.. but im not gang related at all. Im just proud of being from LA, california.

Gotta give the guy credit for saying what was on his mind. As a hundred pound female, I don't have the balls to say to peoples' faces what I'm really thinking, even if I had a gun on me, I couldn't speak my mind. You can think he's wrong for saying that, and you can also tell him to shove it and keep your money.

Why don't you take a page out of the sluts' book and get all your homies together and have a parade where you wave signs that say "stop thug shaming!"
