Like I said, I dont dress or act thuggish or gang affiliated. I make it a point not to with all these young idiots running around killing people for wearing the wrong color in the wrong area.

I was wearing Nike running shoes, sweat pants, and a T shirt. A T shirt that fit me btw, not some 4XL pro club dress.

Put on a pair of jeans and this whole thing may have been avoided.

People make generalizations. When I see someone all tatted up first thought I have is that they must not use critical thinking. When I was 10 I liked GI Joe, glad I didn't get a tat of it though. When I was 20 I liked Michael Jackson, SURE GLAD I didn't get an MJ tatt.

I have also found, through my interactions with tatted people, that many of them are "stuck" in the era and mindset of their tats.

Say someone got a really beotchen Peter Frampton tattoo back in the day. Well, it's 2013 and they still have it in full visibility. Well, they either have to own it (aka it's cool and so is Frampton) or they have to accept the fact that it was a dumb move and that they regret it. Guess what, most will stay true to the old tatt, rather than admit they have grown up, and or moved on with their lives. It just kinda keeps them locked in a time-period they are now committed to forever.

I OUTWARDLY laugh when I see dudes with those REALLY KEWL (aka late 80's) tribal tatts wrapped around their biceps.

Most of my tatts represent me. I have lots of California related tatts, and a few native american and African tattoos to represent my heritage. I dont think I can ever Un stick those things from me.

But they do. I'm sure that once someone gets to know you, you are a perfectly nice guy. But that's not what people see. Won't you agree that a 90 year old woman with a walker, is probably not going to be much of a threat to you. Don't you also agree that a certain look could be an indicator of a possible threat? Your appearance is asking other people to make the accommodation, that is asking a lot. For some people, less open minded, that may be asking too much. You had a bad experience, I understand but if you look a certain way, you are going to have to expect a reaction. It may not be the reaction you were hoping for.

Ive lived in Little Saigon for 35 years and speak some Vietnamese. But still to this day, woman grab their purses as I walk by ans Im SMILING and saying hello in Vietnamese...lol One woman even ran out in traffic and almost got run over just to avoid me. Another puts her face to the wall as I walk by. And I see these same people every day...lol Maybe they are crazy...

True. I have tattoos as well, on my upper arms and chest, barely visbile under my sleeves, but what is visible is the face and mouth of a very mean looking dragon.

I have done ftf deals with POLICE OFFICERS in uniform and have been treated FINE and then get **** treatment from random civilians...
