I just ran across this post and my first thought was not political or an issue of right and wrong. I just thought " It could be worse, he could be naked"

True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.
Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy schit...what a ride"!!
Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in. Mark Twain

I applaud this post. The 2A nuts couldn't see the forest for the trees and screwed everyone to make a useless point.People were open carrying guns in CA before the "movement" without problems. The difference was that folks were carrying on their motorcycle on the way to the range or to some other place before, but the open carry activists were using open carry as a means of political protest. The activists were in-your-face to everyone and gave fuel to the politicians to ban it. That's stupid. The people who open carried in the past, especially people who rode motorcycles, didn't do it as a political demonstration, and they didn't give a reason for a ban. If it weren't for the demonstrators, there would be no ban in CA.Comment

And those silly 1st. Amendment nuts that think they should be free from the religious dictates of others. Crazy kids!Comment

oh my bad, let's go back to the Walnut Creek thing because now I see that you were right. Those 3 non-violent crimes committed in that city are surely require armed patrol to defend the constitution. 3 crimes TOTAL in that city for an entire year.

so by your logic "in your face" protests with signs should also be stopped because the message could hurt someone's feelings. both were legal activities, unfortunately one was banned by a corrupt government not the protesters so stop blaming them.People were open carrying guns in CA before the "movement" without problems. also to add open carry wasn't even a protest it was a method of carry for California so advocating that people practicing the same right as you do is idiotic just points out you intelligence level.Last edited by sparrow; 08-09-2013, 6:49 PM.Comment

WOW if you think this guy's an idiot then I have no hope left for this country. YES this whole ordeal was unconstitutional, we have the right to keep and bear arms and arms are loaded. so the simple fact that a law has been passed in California stating firearms are to only be carried unloaded in of itself is UNCONSTITUTIONAL. second we have the right from unreasonable search and seizure. the fact that these cops can stop and harass and seize weapons from anyone for practicing what little rights they have left is also UNCONSTITUIONAL. what are you people really fighting for, only some of your rights or all of them.Yay for being pointlessly belligerent.
"I don't consent to a search of my person or my property"
Plain view chief, nothing is being "searched".
Is it registered to you?
"I don't have to answer that".
Why? What purpose does it serve to refuse to answer that? To make the whole thing take longer? To make yourself look like more of a prick?
"It is against the constitutional."
No chief it isn't. Idiots like this are the reason we lost open carry.Comment

Open carry activists were not inciting violence, or even threatening anyone, so your analogy is false. You were able to exercise it, that is, until a bunch of idiots started "open carry rallies" to tell everyone about it. And then it got taken away.
You have free speech until you try to incite violence.
Adam Kokesh had freedom to post anything he wanted on the internet. He lost that freedom when he posted a video of himself loading a shotgun in a public plaza in DC (which is illegal in and of itself).
There's a difference between exercising your rights and acting out to get attention.
All that they did was to prove that a right that is not regularly exercised will be lost/taken away.Last edited by retiredAFcop; 08-09-2013, 9:38 PM.Comment

By doing it in an environment where people are used to seeing citizens openly carrying - which means that you first might have to have people willing to openly carry in a well publicized, "safe" manner, to get people used to the idea.Comment

This is why we can't have nice things...
because when a citizen does something safe, legal, and harmless, like carry a rifle while picking up trash in their neighborhood, there are hoplophobes who overreact, freak out, and try to limit the rights of all.Comment
