Went to my local gun store. Shelves were bare of semi auto rifles. Pistols and shotguns had the normal amount of stock.

Money such as the US dollar is simply paper with shrinking value these days.
So, even the poor knothead who spent $500 on a stripped lower at least has a stripped lower. Next week that $500 dollars may only buy him $475 worth of food or stripped lowers may be going for $600.

The buyers are just paying the price for coming to the game late
To us people who actually shoot, yes, they are equities, but to the average guy who will buy it and it'll sit in his closet... no. In a few months, if there is no additional AWB legislation, he'll wonder why he even got it, realize he doesn't really want it and sell it. At a huge loss! Or, he'll catch the dreaded and very contagious black rifle disease and continue his downward spiral

While I agree with you to a certain extent, it's the people who are actually throwing their money away that are to blame. They did not prepare and it is their loss. If I had a S&W M&P 15 Sport sitting around that I could sell for $2k, hell, I would! I just had a baby girl and that extra cash could go a long way. But I have prepared and purchased what I want and stocked up where I needed, no more, no less. My only issue with the whole fiasco is that that I wanted to buy a Saiga in 545x39 for a project gun and then this ridiculous buying craze suddenly kicked in... no project gun for me. Probably saved me from dumping money into something I probably didn't need anyway, ha... no, I needed it.

For me, shooting is a hobby. Guns have some intrinsic value, but are not like gold and silver, come on. If their was a complete collapse of society, they would have trade value for sure, much like the frontier days. But when I hear the gold comparison, gold is 1700 an ounce, and an AR15 is $300 a pound. Not there yet.

When whatever laws are or are not passed, this will die down, and if no laws are passed, crash, and if a permit system passed, crash. And if Feinstein gets her way, your stuck with what you got, risking a felony selling any of it. This is no different than chainsaws and generators in a disaster. Theres no long term stability in it, so it is not like gold and silver.

Now, if a ban goes through where you can tranfer banned mags and guns, then yes. They most likely wont stop making ammo, so those gains are sure to crash, just like last time, just like next time.

They could have easily added another $200-400 per rifle but they kept pricing the same.
Yeah, so much for that....they most all guns marked up at Wild Bill's.

please tell me again how supply and demand inflates prices...

because there's more stripped lowers and rebuilds on calguns marketplace right now than i've ever seen.

Sorry........gold/silver just have longer cycles of increases and decreases, the same ones we are experiencing in the firearms market

Gold/Silver is a hedge against inflation

Does not cease to amaze me, every day it's something mind boggling on GB.

Guys trying to trade WASRs for M1As, stripped lowers going for $800 each, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

I'm still waiting for AE, Rem, and Win .223 ammo to crash back down to $2.99 a box. Still hasn't happened It's like gas prices. People complained about $1.50 for a gallon gas and now they're happy if it's under $3.50 because they once paid almost $5. Same thing happens with ammo. It never crashes back down to it's original price after the craziness.

I don't know, bought when low hedging my bets that inflation (election) would be on my side, and I won, isn't that what investing is about? Trying to beat the market?
