I was at wild bills three days ago, and the (from one month ago) $700.00 AK's were now $1199.00. They have raised their prices.

I'm worried these first time buyers who figure out they really didn't need to panic buy will end up being the ones giving us more dedicated individuals a "bad rap" due to poor handling and crazy, uncontrolled shooting.

      $100 a PMAG? For F*^k Sake!!!!!

And I list my almost new pristine Glock 23 FS at a fair price and all I got was flake calls..go figure. I guess people enjoy frenzied gun stores. I guess I'll keep the thing and next year it will go for $800.

I walked into TDS guns in Rocklin yesterday. Looks like the Grinch got there first... all that was left were some hooks and some wire... hanging in the place where the guns used to be. The shop was like a ghost town. No merchandise to display or sell, and no point in taking orders. They had a checkout person in case you wanted to buy a sling or something.

Sacramento Black Rifle was fairly busy. They had a few black rifles on the wall still ($2400 price range) and they had some stripped Noveske lowers at $400 each. Didn't see any pmags, although there was a rather larg box full of mag-blocks for them.

Since they are the MEGA Arms distributor for nor-cal I wanted to see if they would place a (backlogged) order for a matched upper/lower set. Nope, not even taking orders. Try back in 2 WEEKS said the man working the counter.

This is part of the self-regulating nature of the market.

If demand goes up (supply remaining constant) then you have more and more buyers chasing fewer and fewer products. Prices rise accordingly, and people who don't really need one right now will wait, hoping for prices to come down. This ensures that those who really do NEED the item will be able to GET one, instead of the guy who just wants five of them "just cuz" buying them all up on day one. As price remains high, additional suppliers will lay out cash to hire more and purchase equipment to increase production. People who over-bought, will be persuaded to sell now that they can recoup their investment at a profit. Eventually, supply will satisfy demand and sales will fall off. When that happens, producers will reduce capacity (fewer shifts and less overtime) and will put the product on sale. Competition among those suppliers will drive prices lower.

That's how a free market economy works. You're seeing a lot for sale now because it's profitable to sell at the current prices. When prices drop, you probably won't see a lot of people as motivated to sell.

                  I'm waiting this out.

I got plenty of .223 in stock.

I just ordered a few 80% lowers lately, which had been on my list for months, and only recently did payment for my invoices come in. Bad timing obviously, but I'm not in any hurry, and I have to wait for a build party anyway (unless I can convince a local CNC guy to buy a jig and get with the program).

Once the madness has come down and some people need to pay their credit card bills and manufacturers start discounting to counter a saturated market, I'll swoop in and grab the few items I still "need". But those are mostly made-to-order uppers, and those might have a backlog but I'm in no hurry either. Plenty of other guns to shoot in the meanwhile. I'm actually thinking of getting myself some BP pistols. I'm petty sure those will be safe from DiFi's claws.

its pretty crazy out there, rifle racks are pretty bare at all my LGS's. All I saw at one was bolt actions and shotguns even all the tacticool 22's had been all bought up. It seemed like the consensus was if it was a semi-auto rifle people wanted it bad. All the online retailers are wiped out of the same firearms and "assault rifle ammo", even .22lr supplies seem to be running out

when you really think of it, even the inflated prices are NOT THAT MUCH. yea my full stag build is probably only worth 1k in the pre=newton market..but prices have only crept up 3-400 bucks. in 2020 when these are banned outright 1300 is still a deal.....

besides i just checked CG classifieds and found a handful of ARs for under 1500....which is not that bad at all considering most have extras included too...i have heard rumors in the news about ARs going for 2-3k so 1500 is still a decent price IMO. would you rather have a new flatscreen TV that you can still buy in 2014, or buy something that might be banned in 2014 and can save your family from a hoarde of zombies...

luckily i bought 3 ARs before this al started....i literally bought a complete AR pistol for 850 bucks a week before newtown. but in all honestly i would have paid up to 1500 for it, because lke other posters have said, cash is just cash and really has no value should it collapse. ive paid 1600 for tiny 1oz gold coins and an AR15 is much more useful than any of those gold coins.

if you were smart and already bought a bunch, than you can sit back and laugh at those paying 2k for an AR. but if you sat it out and waited, than paying 2k now to have a garunteed grandfathered 2nd amendment defender its a no brainer. especially since long gun registration happens in 2014 so its better to get them now anyways.

your 2 grand might only be worth 1500 in a few years anyways the way our country keeps the printing presses rolling...when tHESE THINGS ARE BANNED. you're gonna wish you bought more.

an AR is worth more to me than the money, i can put off that luxury goods purchase or home remodel until later, they will always be available. ARs wont.

I got my WASR-10 back in 2004 for $350! I love my WASR and would not call it "crap". It's not the prettiest, most well built rifle on the planet, but it's reliable, accurate as all hell and super-fun to shoot! I'd never sell it, not even for 5 times what I originally paid.

The Great Panic should put to rest any more comments that the economy is troubled. It's obvious that people have more money than they need and can afford to part with it just to join in the frenzy. Bare displays at gun shops, after years of strong demand and new shops opening, are enough proof for me.

You are absolutely right!!! All this talk about a recession and my response is "WHAT RECESSION?" People are buying up the market place at inflated prices with no regard to price..I dont know if its because people are using a truckload of credit cards or what but its ridiculous. I saw an ACR for $3000 (about $600 over MSRP) and I told myself if I had the money, I would buy it with no problem. Im just mad I cant buy extra mags for my nearly purchased .308

I think you'll find the majority of these purchases are in fact impulse buys facilitated with a credit card. This is what occured the last time this happened, after this clown was elected in 2008. Then, after a lot of these people were some how convinced Obama really didn't want to take their guns away, they sold them off to pay revolving credit card interest at 21 1/2%. Now these same people are right back at it again.
