Alright guys I think we all just shot ourselves in the foot. This is sad. I understand the panic but this is truly the end of the AR15 era/military assault weapon. This is my view... with so much people purchasing weapons and not a single ffl holder is asking "do you know how to operate or use this rifle" this is definitely going to lead into more accidental discharges in the near future. And not only that straw purchases are being made left and right... this is absolutely horrible... this will be another way for the government to put stricter gun control on us.

What are you, a liberal? Safety is in numbers, as we learned in CA since 2006.

Most of people doing panic buying (over paying for the AR/AK items) are democrats/liberals/etc. So, they are going to value gun ownership ever more.

Was at a LGS earlier, sea of people at the counter, not much on the shelves, yada yada yada... typical story by now. Anyways, based on the questions being asked and the way people were handling the firearms, I'd say half of the people in that store had never purchased or even touched a firearm in their life. This whole deal is creating a LOT of new gun owners, including some in my family...

God xmas present would be a handgun/rifle class. Some of these new people need instruction on safety. My dad taught my well and very safe, i actually hate public ranges bcs not sure how well ll the other people their weapons. Texting while shooting....lol

I hope most people read the owners manual and consult help before handling a loaded firearm. I can almost guarantee most new black rifle owners don't even what type of barrel they have or ammo they should use

Unless manufacturers have stopped making ammo or drastically scaled back production, I think you'll be fine. People cannot panic buy forever. They can't afford it. Especially at todays inflated prices. I expect good discounts in the future. Once manufacturers ramp up production due to the panic, buying will normalize, and they'll be stuck with lots of excess inventory.

A lot of businesses are not thinking about the 2nd amendment it is more of the money. Sell sell sell as fast as you can! Last thing we need as responsible gun owners is another douche bag or psychopathic killer to give guns a bad name.

For some reason you cant get 5.7 ammo. Some say demand, others say strike. Either way there would be a small amount coming in, but really have not seen much if any and they are not taking back orders. Medication has been effed up since obama. Reglan, fentanyl, versed, atropine, nitro, many other drugs in short supply. This has been all on obamas watch. Get your guns while you can and enjoy them. Cant control guns but can over regulate ammo, gun shops, ranges essentially making it such a pain in the arse. Been eyeing guns for a while but was being frugal, now is the time.

With absolutely no savings so I'm on the opposite situation right.now... Now its time for me to be frugal and save some cash. I was almost tempted to sell some extra parts but can't get myself to do it.

I had a very similar thought when reading through this thread. It's another "bubble." Its not sustainable. The stuff that's being bought-up is still being manufactured and it is just a matter of time before supply catches up with demand, and price comes back down.

Even if some draconian new law is written, it will take a LONG time to pass, and then longer still to go into effect...as well as the fact that court action may delay implementation (or prevent it altogether). This applies to both the state and federal level.

I've made up my mind to quit getting caught up in these frenzies. The one thing I continue to buy as much as I can of, is the Cold-war-era military surplus ammunition, of which there is a fixed supply and for which new production in the same caliber is usually 2-3x as much.

I'm in exactly the same situation...already spent the past several years hoarding weapons, ammo, and accessories, to the point where I ran myself broke and wound up in a deep hole w/ the credit cards on top of it.

I have a couple of stripped AR lowers in my safe, but I bought those just to keep on-hand so I could build a couple of AR's later on. Kind of glad I did. At present I do not own any "tactical" rifles, much preferring the older wood-and-metal type guns (Mosin Nagant, etc).

Hey everyone, new to the forum and this is my first post. I have been wanting an AR for quite sometime but didn't have the funds.....of course now I do but prices are insane. A little help please....how much is a "normal" price for a striped lower and "normal" for a complete upper? Looking at 5.56.
