The last UPS horror story, not the only one, but the last one, I can tell you about is a portable printer my wife ordered. UPS said they delivered it to a male who signed for it. Well since I am the only male human that lives here and I didn't open the door that entire day, I can tell you I didn't sign for any package. I doubt my male dog learned how to grab a writing instrument and sign for it either ( I am suspicious that he knows how to open the door though).

Wife filed a complaint and all they could say was that a male signed for it and for her to contact the shipper (Amazon). No we'll look into it, no contacting the driver, nothing.

Worst one was when I ordered a gaming computer and the driver had marked it as delivered and left at front door. No such thing. Called to make a complaint and the only explanation I got was sorry, he made a mistake. It's still on the truck. Needless to say I picked it up at their facility that night.

As far as Ammo goes, I've gotten boxes in really rough condition, but for some reason all the ammo was accounted for. I'm talking the boxes were practically torn open to the point where you could see the individual boxes inside. But all the ammo delivery horror stories could occupy another thread.

But yeah, shipping in the SF Bay Area can suck at times.

Wow, lots of stories here. My UPS delivery guy is super cool. I live on property, and my guy delivers at the same time of day all the time.(FEDEX shows up at all kinds of different times of the day.) If a box has the slightes look of damage on it my UPS guy makes a note of it(in case something is damaged). Have had the same guy for 12 years, FEDEX has different guys all the time. Bummer you people have had bad experiences with different Shippers,(I guess thats just the nature of the Beast).

I've had good luck with Fed Ex and UPS, I've been PISSED at USPS though. Nothing missing or damaged by any of them, but a SMALL package, a Leupold bore sighter. Any of you have one of these knows that it is packaged on a "hanging card" kinda thing. It's small. I t was packed in a cushioned envelope about 6in x 12in. They said it couldn't fit on the truck! It sat in Chino for a week!

I've just recently had a package re-shipped from Brownells because the first one never arrived from UPS. I had another package from a hardware vendor arrive and the box was smashed, great big hole in it, and half the contents missing. I've also shipped things that I sold on Ebay through UPS because they were too heavy for USPS, and UPS managed to smash them. I swear that UPS uses packages for soccer balls in their warehouses. Writing "fragile" on the side only tells the dock workers "kick it harder".

I haven't had much luck with Brown.

You can't ship ammo, powder, or primers through the mail. Cases and bullets, yes.

I doubt UPS stole the ammo, the box probably got busted open in transit and some of the contents were lost. The vendor you purchased it from will make a claim with UPS for the loss and should send you what was missing in the shipment. You don't need to deal with UPS, the seller does, so this is when you find out if your supplier is worth a damn. A decent shop will take care of it promptly.

I have friends that work at UPS and they tell me there's always stuff that come out of boxes and since the original packaging is gone, the stuff goes to UPS's corporate junk yard where they are sold off to wholesalers. There is a lot of ammo falling out of packages that cannot be traced to the shipper or the consignee so off they go to the local police department for disposal. If a customer calls in inquiring about a shipment and can provide specific details, then there might be a chance that they will recover the goods.

I have lost a few boxes of ammo from shipments handled by UPS but never a lot at one time. It's always one per shipment.

The Fedex guy once locked me in my house by stacking several boxes between my door and a pillar on my front step, then banging on the door and driving away.

I live in Compton, so I have a security gate in front of my door. The door opens in, the security gate/door opens out.

It just meant I had to get dressed and go outside through my back yard, but I was still pissed at the time.

Now, it's pretty funny.

I've recieved boxes smashed with bootprints all over them and looked like they were punted into the front porch. OP, this might sting a little but its a lesson not to trust these guys with more expensive items.

helpful hint- always write the recipient address on the side of the box so if the sticker that they apply with that information is torn off, at least they can send the box to its original intended destination.

This thread is not instilling a great deal of confidence in our brown-clad parcel slingers in me. This is particularly concerning since I just put an order out for some Federal HST's that are being sent UPS...
