The results of the challenge came down to one thing......luck.

Jermaine had terrible luck and Jay had biblical good luck............!!!!

I'd rather be lucky than good any day.................

I think that Jay has shown us the importance of being mentally prepared. Your brain is more important than your trigger finger. Love him or hate him, he has his head in the game.

In Jay's defense I believe the pistol instructor referred to Jay's shooting style as "Barney Miller" rather than "Barney Fife".

This season has been great so far. The range set ups have been incredible.

Best of luck to all Calgunner participants.

          my 2 cents:

jermaine's training was so obvious. his form with the pistol was so flawless and his reload was so fast, all the training he's had shows.

but he just didnt seem like that bright a guy. how can you make that kind of mistake? twice!

being a team player and being able to follow a plan is the most important part of tac shooting. how can he have choked on that?

i hope my homeland security doesnt depend on guys like that.

he did seem like a nice guy though and was a great shooter. i feel bad for him to go out like that. he'll be banging his head on the wall for a long time.

All I know is if this Jay clown wins its going to suck! How can a guy miss soooo many shots and still win? He even missed the first window to get a shot off! Then he goes on to say its too late in the game to change my shooting style, lol. In practice the guy missed soo many targets what would it matter? Its not like it was working for him. Luck was on his side. Thats the only part I dont like about the show. If thers a tie there should be a shoot off.

But let's face it - the elimination competition included non-hostile targets. Even though Jay didn't seem to fare well in practice, he performed WHEN IT COUNTED. I really like Jermaine from what I've seen on the show, but *he hit a non-hostile*. As nice of a guy as he is, in a real situation, that is not good. Jay, despite what was portrayed as poor practice, pulled through where it was needed most. The hostiles were taken out, and the non-hostiles were saved.

Who can really argue against that?

After watching the final elimination this week, you could see that the editors made it look like Jermaine was awesome in practice and Jay couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, yet Jay showed his shooting abilities much better in the actual event. Also, Jay's strategy was superior, even if his gun handling skills weren't.

Yes, Daryl's a douche, I hope he gets his comeuppance one of these episodes.

At least this season they're showing more of the shooting events and less of the 'drama'.

You know what? I would stretch and say Jay is a "sandbagger" he makes it look like he has limited skills when it comes to handgun but in reality he is more experienced at it.

Jay is lucky / Jermaine is dumb.

Neither are true. Jay is mentally focused and determined and Jermaine is not dumb, but adrenaline got the best of him. It happens to anybody. As for Jay, let's not forget the guy has Olympic level focus. Mental focus in any game can win out by a lot.

Btw, I don't know if Jay is sandbagging either. I think the show is editing him to look incapable. However, I do think he's trying to give instruction to top professional firearms shooters while being less qualified to do so. He is genuinely trying to help without necessarily realizing how irritating it is to people who instruct and win championships for a living.

                      New respect for Jay

I've got to admit I was hoping Jay got eliminated because I didn't think he was a team player and was being portrayed as a know it all. However, after beating Jermaine I have a new found respect for the guy. The producers of the show are doing a great job with the editing and making him out to be this inexperienced, bossy and annoying character. He may be the sleeper to win this whole thing because so far all he has done is produce.

oh well, better for the team overall, we know Jay's gonna dominate in the next challenge... at least we would expect him to

Still, it's eminently clear that Darryl dislikes Jay on a personal level, which goes far beyond his annoying tendencies.
I think Darryl is threatened by Jay. This is a LE Lt from TX who is just rubbed wrong by a Golf Pro from Southern Calif...who just picked up the handgun a year ago. I'm sure he see it as just wrong that Jay is even there, having never paid his dues in developing his skills. It would crush him if they were in a Elimination together, he's be so worried about losing to the Golf Pro that he wouldn't be able to shoot

You'll notice that the USPSA shooters aren't having a problem with him. In that sport, it is all about what you can do, not how you got there

Yeah but USPSA shooters are weird like that. They'll show you how good they are and then teach you how to beat them. Gotta love action shooters.

Didn't forget but she did say she was looking after the team dynamic which I understand. Daryl did his own thing regardless of what the team agreed to and that is much worse.
