CA DROS Delay

this crap wit the doj is just wrong.my personal feelings are the delays and undetermineds are due to lazy or over whelmed employees and also the doj screwing with gun owners. in my case i got good news after this mess started back in june. i bought a used handgun from turners which after 7 days became delayed. at the end of 30 days it became undetermined and turners policy is to give the money back and not release on guns they sell. i then waited over 30 days and bought a new handgun from turners.. 4 das later doj sent them a delay. i waited a week or so and gave in and got a lifescan done and sent it to the doj firearms division. 5 days later i got my copy of the live scan results in the mail. nothing new or wrong. so last monday i called doj which took over 2 hours to get thru. the lady at doj told me it did no good to send them my life scan. i quized her on all this and politely told her this was wrong etc etc. then on friday i went to turners and put money on a consignment gun which is on 30 day hold. turners releases on undetermined if its a ppt. so got a nice out of production well cared for model 19 smith comin. im in the store not 10 minutes after paying my money and they tell me they just got a email alert from doj ending the delay and to release the gun to me. it sounds like the squeeky wheel gets the grease with doj. so i got the new 686 and waiting for the model 19 to clear. and wife didnt get mad,lol. i feel better but this is sheer bs what they are doing to us.

And the guy at the DOJ told me to do a live scan..

The LAZY WORTHLESS WASTE OF SPERM @ DOJ. Tell people to do a livescan, and pay to do your own BG Check. That you already paid them to do. With the mandatory DROS FEE. The statute gives them 10 days to do so. FEDS do it in a matter of minutes. If DELAYED, [which many are] that gives them another 20 days to sit on their hands and collect their paychecks.

Then the same LAZY WORTHLESS WASTE OF SPERM tell you after wasting 2 hr on phn;.

So why have you do it? Just more WORTHLESS WASTE OF SPERM DELAY TACTICS.

I've got some *good* news. All these delays have actually caused my FFL/LGS to unofficially change their policy on "Undetermined".

When I first asked them about their policy, they said they did not release on undetermined. But now that the volume of delays/undetermined is way higher than they've ever seen, the rep said, "We aren't in the business of NOT selling guns." and they released my new toy to me.

Talk about a back-fire (if all the conspiracy theory stuff has a glimmer of truth).

Timelines, because I know some will ask.

- 06/13 Deposit placed, rifle ordered
- 06/24 rifle arrived, DROS/Transaction started
- 07/05 FFL told me I was "Delayed" (I had to go in, in-person to have them tell me)
- 08/13 I went into the FFL/LGS and learned they were being flexible on their normal policy and took delivery.
- 08/23 "Latest Delivery Date/Time" on DROS paperwork.

This is probably a LGS/FFL issue, but I got zero phone calls advising of the delay, or their flexibility of their policy. I did get the one letter from DOJ about the delay, but that came on/around 07/19, multiple weeks after I already knew I was delayed.

Agreed. While I wish that had been the case all along, I'm cautiously optimistic they use this time to reevaluate their store policies.

You picked two of the crappiest FFLs in the state. Neither release on undetermined. So if your delays turn undetermined at 30 days. You are double screwed.

May not be doing much good since I just got delayed again this week on another gun I recently bought. Fortunately my FFL releases on undetermined but it sucks to have to wait 30 days.

I doubt the corrupt CA DOJ gives a crap about what any court orders them to do because they will simply ignore any court order they don't agree with. But that's not how it's supposed to work except in corrupt governments. You are supposed to comply with a court order.

Bonta ought to be locked up for breaking the law because no one is above the law!

Not trying to hijack thread. I moved to AZ almost three years ago and still being delayed on almost everyone of my purchases. I never get cleared right away anymore. Don’t know if this has to do with this newer administration or not. Last time I cleared immediately was two years ago. Just went in to get a Sig macro 365 and delayed again. 4th purchase in 5 months. Everyone delayed. So yesterday when delayed I decided to call about it. Was told if I have ever been arrested/ not convicted ! Arrested that I will be delayed. I asked why, since they always clear me by day three and it’s obvious I have don’t have anything that prohibits me on my record. Was told it did not matter , that anyone who’s been arrested will be delayed. Does not matter how long ago or for what. Is this something new? Crazy how they are in my opinion making up things as they go a long. Also was told to do a VPI number. May have acronym wrong. Was told it’s where I release them to have open access to my past and they keep it on file. Even though I don’t have a record.

Agree with Goldfish on this. I have multiple arrests, even one felony, NO CONVICTIONS. And I've never been delayed.

For clarity, WHO DID YOU CALL, THAT MADE THOSE CLAIMS?

FEDERALLY, When a FFL in AZ, runs a mandated NICS BG check. Vast majority clear in minutes. 3 DAYS is the maximum allowed for a NICS/FBI DELAY. If they can find nothing to prohibit the transfer in that time. THEY MUST approve the transfer.

Not the 30 days codified in Crap O Fornica law. Here in Kali, it is the Ca-DOJ initiating the overwhelming number of delays.

In Az, getting consistent FBI/NICS delays, suggests something is amiss in the NICS records. Were I you, I would request your FBI RAP sheet and check for yourself.
