    CA DROS Delay

    Hello all,

Weird thing happened to me today. I got a call from the shop saying my DROS had been “delayed” for a reason I am not sure of. I have purchased and own multiple firearms and have never had an issue. I have a CCW which I have recently renewed, I bought a firearm in Dec 2021. And now I am getting a “delay”. Has anyone experienced this? Does delay lead to denied? Sort of at a loss of what to think! Thanks in advance!

You'll get a letter from DOJ, did you happen to ask what the FFLs policy is on undetermined?

I did not, I can ask. It came on day 6 of 10 of the waiting period. Does delayed mean denied? Have you heard of this happening before?

Just odd being an active consumer and also having been issued a CCW renewal in the last 10 months.

Delayed does not mean denied, it could turn into a denial or an OK.
We had a lot of those discussed here when people were buying so many guns they couldn’t keep up with the paperwork.

          Is your name somewhat common?
There are times where somebody with the same name got in trouble for something and they’re verifying you are not that person.

Always use an FFL that releases on undetermined if at all possible.

Has anyone with a valid CCW ever experienced this?

I think that you can only buy or sell 12 firearms per year in California. I’m not sure if it’s any 12 month period or calendar year. So if you’ve bought or sold a total a 12 firearms in a year that could be it. I see that you’ve only purchased 4. Have you sold any?

Also, I believe that you can only DROS/buy 6 new firearms per year. Maximum of 1 handgun every 30 days and no more than 6 per year. This would be your fifth purchase so you should be good there. Let us know what it was.

I thought it was 5 sales per year? At least that's how it is for PPT's, you can only conduct 5 PPT's per year and in each of those individual transactions I don't think there's a limit to how many firearms you can sell.

I too was delayed starting on the 6th day of ten day wait, I was purchased two consignment handguns, same shop in one transaction. First time for delay also, I usually purchase twice a year and don't dont sell guns.
Never had a issue this was my first time, received a letter, doesn't explain what issue is, just gives you three possibilities, you can read the same thing on DOJ site. I waited 31 days from letter date, called the shop. I was still delayed, January 28, by the way, last month. The shop called DOJ to see if delayed was cleared, no, still delayed, they wanted more time, my dealer told them he will be releasing two handguns, my legal property to me, they ,DOJ,told him, he better have a good lawyer, my dealer gave me a full refund instead, sucks I really wanted both offlist handguns, a smith and para.
Now I have 2000 dollars but nervous about another delay.
First time I bought two consignment handguns first time because I had the money
I have real id , safety card good for three more years, no convictions, arrests, or tickets, home owner and land owner also. I've been livescanned already, former security guard.

Honestly I think DOJ is going after multiple purchases now, one gun a month means all firearms , they're changing the laws secretly or they updated the DOJ and red flagged all common names with criminals.

Your the fourth , something is going on with doj
