Here is an article written comparing the G41 to a 1911. Not necesarrily going to solve the "dilemma" just like this thread isn't. Comparing guns to cars certainly won't hahah.

I encourage everyone to compete in organized shooting matches. They are all over the place.
Shoot enough and your firearm selection will be a combination of your preferred venue, division, capability and personal budget. It will not be a influenced by an internet forum of people who don't actually shoot proficiently. Before there was Polymer there was Accuracy.Comment

So one poster calls out 9mm shooters, essentially calling them weak because they don't have the strength to actually hoist up and hold the 1911, because only the manliest of men are strong enough to do it.
Then this poster claims he can't handle 9mm recoil or a 9mm.Comment

So the truth comes out. The reason why all the "get off my lawn" 1911 crowd constantly trashes 9mm is because they can't handle the recoil.Last edited by Vinnie Boombatz; 10-05-2021, 10:41 AM.sigpicComment

I love the chaos of a good ford vs chevy rehash - even the ad hominem attacks and Corvette ads are better than Facebook. First world problems.
Yep, we should all be out shooting instead.Comment

I try and get to every competition my schedule allows. I work on my own guns, and reload my own ammo. I also support my wife's competitive shooting by maintaining her equipment as well (but she's mostly long gun stuff, so I reload 308 for her).
Anyway............ by far........... the most influential input to shooting competence of any firearm is focused and disciplined practice.
I'm a big fish in a small pond. I know it. Barely a Class B shooter.
I jump at the chance to taunt/troll folks to get out to competitive matches any chance I get. This is one such chance.
My singular focused shooting goal is to get better and better with my Open Gun.
I use to be a diehard 45ACP 1911 guy. Now not so much. It comes and goes. Before there was Polymer there was Accuracy.Comment

Here's my $.02, when the timer goes "Beep!", I couldn't tell you how the trigger felt or how the recoil felt. Hell, most stages I couldn't tell you why I didn't shoot at that one target I walked by, or why I shot the white "No Shoot" target standing all by itself. But I had fun. So there's that.Last edited by Robert1234; 10-05-2021, 10:41 AM.Comment

All one has to do is research Larry Vickers video on the multiple points that one has to pay attention to when using the 1911 platform, and then compare that to the maintenance one has to do when using a Glock pistol.
The Glock overall the Glock can run more reliable, weighs less, holds more rounds, and if you cannot hit minute of man at 25 yards, it's not a better trigger you need, is more practice.
I don't hate tnt 1911 platform - I was raised in the steel and wood era, and own a colt ace all thru the Gold cup model, but that Glock ( overall ) runs better than the 1911, it is what it is.Vida Loca HomesComment
