I'm curious as to how a 1911 stacks against a Glock, both in 45 ACP. I've tried them both but at my local shooting ranges I can't fast-fire. So, I'm wondering if anyone can chime in with their experience as far as a faster rate of fire and accuracy? The trigger on a 1911 feels better than the Glock trigger, but I couldn't see if it actually translates into faster, more accurate shooting or not really? Like I mentioned, I can't test this myself as I'm limited to 1 shot per second.

I have fired both 1911's and Glock's, as well as other firearms on BLM land. Rapid fire both 1911 and Glock fired just as fast. The 1911 I could keep on target better, but is heavier and holds only 7/8 rounds. Glock started out the same, but as the 10 round mag depleted, the gun got lighter/harder to keep on target.
Hope that helps
also: 1911 or Glock. Both good for self defense. My choice would be Glock.Comment

Think your skill and ability will have more of an affect rather than the actual firearm. If you suck you wont be able to fast-fire either one accurately.sigpicComment

I have both Glocks and 1911s - however, do people notice while shooting how you can feel the slide moving back and forth on a Glock as compared to a 1911?
I find it distracting. Perhaps not so much if I only fired Glocks - but as for right now - since the 10 round limit ban - I prefer 1911s.Comment

I will just put it nicely. There's a reason why every major law enforcement agency and military agency around the world uses Glock. And it's not because of the pricing. They just plain work. All the time.sigpic

Its because weemen and girly men cant learn to shoot a 45 they went to little gurly round 9mm.
Then add double the ammo since they dont know how to shoot in the first place... you end up with a double stack 9.
I would own a glock if the triggers didnt suck so bad.
and yeah... tell me again about how great a pyramid trigger is... and then I ask you which pyramid trigger makes the glock trigger feel like a 1911.
I might actually buy a glock for a nightstand gun because I dont want to lose one my nice 1911's for a year or 2 because of a self defense shoot.Comment
