Do you work there or have some sort of connection to them? Or do they give you a discount because of your ex LE status? Seems I struck a nerve.

Regardless of what I call it it is a lame policy that almost no other range has and yes myself and others choose not to shoot there due to his greed and short-sightedness.

As for steel cases let your buddy know there is a magical device called a magnet he can use to sort it out of the brass.

Most gun shops carry locks and will sell one to you for about six dollars. I find it odd you had to run to walmart to buy one again. Also doesnt Ca require one lock for every gun isnt that a lone breaking the law if you used the same lock at cerritos and santa ana (thats a lot of driving). Plus the receipt has to be valid within 30 days or else an ffl can not legally release the firearm. I dont think it was a power move like one of the posters suggested. Its more like the FFL was following the law.

I got mine (free) at the Baldwin Park PD many years ago..no receipt given.These are yellow and stamped 'child safety program" on them. I've used it for 3 or 4 PPTs and Ammo Bros were the only ones to refuse it. I havn't bought any new handguns in several years, but I assume it would still fly.

With their own logo on packaging.
And thereafter implemented a policy of lying to customers. In order to deny them the LAWFUL EXEMPTIONS written into the law. In order to PIMP their OWN LOCKS.

Those project childsafe locks are not on the DOJ roster, so are not supposed to be used as an approved safety device when taking possession of a firearm. Any FFL who accepted that lock would receive a violation from the DOJ when they get audited.

The bigger issue here IMO is the typical mentality of "us vs them." Us being gun owners, and them being FFL's. The reality of the situation is FFL's want to keep their license and stay in business, and will implement policies that may exceed the minimum requirement in order to ensure that they are compliant.

Gun owners are notorious for being less than enthusiastic about any such policy, and if they can save $6.00 and get their gun, are relatively ambivalent if the FFL loses their license and goes out of business. They just move onto another LGS they can repeat the cycle on.

What if you shoot revolvers? You have to dump your empties on the floor? Last place I went with this policy I only shot .22. And never went back.

Your entire post is full of holes. FFL's who implement "EXTRA LEGAL" POLICIES not REQUIRED BY ANY LAW. Do so of their own volition. And are not now, and never have been in any jeopardy of losing their license unless they exceed legal requirements.

"They/Them" require gun buying customers, "US" to stay in business. Their goal should be to make and keep satisfied customers. Not screw everyone who walks in the door out of an extra couple of bucks for a lock just because they can. Then blame their lying greed on the state.

"US" should include "THEM". As both sets of citizens forced to follow the law.

Those of "THEM" that choose to lie to, and screw "US". Don't deserve the patronage of "US".

Not sure if you can dump in to your range bag or if he expects you to dump on floor to help his bottom line. Even if only 22 rimfire brass I wouldn't even give him that for the scrap value let alone shoot there.

You're not the only one who won't go there there is other posts about it on other threads. I should start a separate thread about that range and their greed.

Funny thing is is at most ranges that don't have that policy I leave most my brass anyhow. But they're not getting stuff like 7.65 French Long or 8mm Nambu brass.

+1 PPT at OC Indoor. Also good for mail order FFL transfer. State of CA would love this thread. They have passed another law to annoy gun owners -- and gun shops.

My LGS has gun locks for $15. The old man over the counter did not understand that the lock that came with the PPT was original and he had to implement his own policy of MANDATORY for all PPT with or without OEM lock. Unsure about the law on this but it was rather rude. J know that supporting my LGS is great but not through extortion.
