Like i said, it wasnt my favorite, but I "justified it" with support for a small shop. However, Bass Pro Shops made me buy a lock on a brand new Ruger 10/22. The ruger already comes with a lock and a boat anchor you can attach to the action. So yeah, that one peeved me.

Had anyone ever tried to use a receipt like that yet at Ammo Brothers?

                  Agree.

Or just not sell them at all once they also get out of selling ammo in CA come July. They've gone this far in getting the license for their stores and employees, but I don't think Walmart is going to take on the background-check circus stunts for ammo sales.

Didn't used to; several years ago, Ammo-Bros Cerritos was my go-to FFL in that area, especially in their old adjacent store-front. You never saw a complaint on Calguns, but these past few years, it comes up quite often.

Last time I was down there, I had no issues, but a slaesman was sure giving a hard time to another guy doing a PPT. And I've done well enough PPTs to know that the young Ammo Bros salesman was wrong in his protest. Lucky for the PPT guys, a more knowledgeable salesman (or maybe manager) stepped in and resolved the conflict. However, it should never have arisen in the first place.

This times a million. If AB has a gun I like on sale for $50 lower than what Bullseye has it for, I will still go to Bullseye. The price is worth it for how they treat customers. AB in Riverside has an older male as a manager who is a complete fud running pos. To be fair though, everytime I walk in there they are dealing with some stupid wannabe ghetto kid asking dumb questions to impress his lady. AB in Ontario is tolerable.

Maybe a new manager or they recently caught grief from their DOJ overlord...

The lock receipt thing is really annoying and sucky.

I've now done PPTs at every Ammo Bros in California and I've had generally good experiences. In fact the Riverside one was one of my best (that was over a year ago). I find it depends on who's on duty at the time. At all the Ammo Bros I was always treated well - although the Santa Ana PPT I did was the slowest and the manager was pretty apathetic.

Turner's on the other hand I try to avoid like the plague.

there is a reason I would drive by Ammo Bros Cerrtios on the way to 2azone when I was in my acquisition stage. Then afterwards I would go just to do PPTs because they can't say no.

Just a power move from the manager thats all. Some FFL find every little thing to hinder the ppt process or wanting you to buy their lock. The easiest way is to avoid those FFL.

The manger probably already knows what "Walmart Locks" and packaging looks like by now so if you bring in a recently used Walmart receipt but with a generic lock, he's got an excuse.

To combat the lock situation, either go to an friendly lock policy FFL, or buy one from Walmart and return. If you think you are doing multiple ppts, don't return the lock right away, keep it for 30 days in case for a second ppt. Walmart return policy is 90 days for that lock (open or not).

Remember some LGS/FFL does not like doing ppt and will think or use any excuse to curb that so play the game straight up with them or simply go elsewhere.

BTW I had couple places open the new Walmart lock packaging and take the instructions papers. When I asked why, they said I needed for my files and ooook can you make a copy then? nope I need the originals. Yeah you gotta deal with things like this in some places. FYI
