I stopped going to ammobros years ago when they treated my wife with disrespect when she was looking for a gift for me. The cerritos AB is a few miles from my home and id rather drive 10+ to the next local gun shop.Kyle "Kenosha Kid" Rittenhouse did nothing wrong -
Thanks for the post.
Seems I am behind on new gun laws.
So if I read your post correctly, one needs to purchase a new gun lock for every new gun purchased?
In other words, is it illegal to use the same old gun lock to transport new guns from the shop to the gun safe at home?
Or is it that a receipt reflecting a CA approved lock the only way the gun store employee can verify if the lock is actually approved?

From my experience/understanding. A lock is required for a handgun purchase. The receipt of the new purchased lock should be good up to thirty days if you were PPT'ing more than one handgun. (correct me if i am wrong).
My previous experiences with various places have also taken the lock that came with the handgun when it was purchased new not requiring a new lock be purchased, and some still ask for a lock to be purchased even when the new firearm came with it's own manufacturer stamped lock.
But then again i've had both exeriences at the same shop request a new lock be purchased in one transaction and no lock be purchased on a seperate transaction. Both times a manufacturer stamped cable lock was included with the handgunLast edited by snacks; 02-17-2019, 8:23 AM.Comment

^^^ I agree with this.
It's like their business model relies on forcing EVERYONE to buy one of their locks. I had a very similar experience with my pick up and the manager on duty at the Cerritos location. He stopped my pick up mid stream and handed it off because "his lunch was getting cold" it literally took 1hr for a simple revolver pick up. Ridiculous.Comment

Most of the new guns come with lock. If you buy a gun from a private seller, either the gun should come with a lock from the same manufacturer or you should have bought a new lock in the last 30 days and show the receipt.
This is the first time someone checking the receipt against the lock!!
Btw, Beretta sells CA lock for $0.01
EDIT: The shipping is $5[emoji21]Last edited by auser6664; 02-17-2019, 8:10 PM.Comment

Just more asinine BS from this crappy state trying to make it as discouraging and inconvenient as possible
Most new guns already come with a brand new cable lock, which is DESIGNED as a gun lock and would be accepted nearly anywhere else, but here it is unacceptable and they insist that you buy ANOTHER specialty lock instead.
Regardless whether you ALREADY have an acceptable lock from a previous purchase, they insist that you must have a NEW lock, bought within the last 30 days at most.
In no conceivable way does that make the transaction or subsequent transport of a newly-acquired firearm ‘safer’ for the public.
From what the OP described above, it sounds like the manager overreached even beyond the idiocy outlined above in rejecting the approved lock with a recent receipt - that just seems to be wrong-headed and I can understand why he was pissed. I’ve only bought ammo from AB in Riverside, but the counter guys I’ve had were good guys - maybe the manager was having a bad day?MAGA - drain the swamp^D^D^D^D^Dcesspool!

I've had a very bad Ammo Brothers experience but overall it is OK and convenient as open 7 days and still preferable to Turner's for a PPT. I'd give them a bit more business except for the lock BS and because they generally don't sell much in the way of used guns.
I can buy a new gun or on roster gun anywhere so they don't really offer what I mainly want that would make me keep coming back. As they become larger and more corporate they have become Turner's lite in some ways. Extra unnecessary by law CYA paperwork as but one example making the process slower.
But they must be doing something right as they keep expanding as Turner's has been also.Comment
