I stopped even walking into an Ammo Hoes, those guys are so tacticool and smart I am not allowed in. I left after hearing some of the dumbest advice on optics I have ever heard.

Just because they work at a gun shop they are experts! Reminds me of On Target ! Ha ha half can't even shoot worth anything

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

I’ve recently done two separate PPTs at the Beaumont Indoor Range. Great transaction both times. It’s a family run place and a great place to shoot and prices are reasonable. Casey is very knowledgeable. Both times the gun came with a DOJ approved lock and it wasn’t an issue.

A nice locally run business that deserves our business.

Turners Reseda is at least a 1.5 - 2 hour wait, just to see a gun, 3 hours to pick one up.

Then you have to sign a hell of a lot of papers and wait some more before you can leave.

I'd rather go to ammo bros, they worked with me once before, and I didn't have any major problems.

Ca laws are driving everyone crazy, my bro in AZ spends less on guns, and is usefully in and out within an hour of pick up.

A safe affidavit makes a purchaser EXEMPT from Ca-FSD requirements. For ALL FIREARMS. Including handguns.

                    ^^^^That's a good question.

Bullseye Sport is usually my go to LGS, but I caved into an impulse buy at A/B Riverside.

"Sam" the female counter person was cool, and quite helpful.

Before reading this thread I hadn't really thought that far ahead, but the weapon doesn't come with a lock.

Will they give me static if I bring in a non-Wally World lock with a current (less than 30 day) receipt?
                    Then said He unto them...
"and he that hath no 1911 designed by my servant John Moses Browning,
let him sell his garment and buy one."
And they said, "Lord, behold, here are two Glocks."
And He said unto them, "Meh, it's a good start."

The lock receipt thing is really annoying and sucky.

I've now done PPTs at every Ammo Bros in California and I've had generally good experiences. In fact the Riverside one was one of my best (that was over a year ago). I find it depends on who's on duty at the time. At all the Ammo Bros I was always treated well - although the Santa Ana PPT I did was the slowest and the manager was pretty apathetic.

Turner's on the other hand I try to avoid like the plague.
Seems a lot depends with who is working and time of day and day of the week. And if in a panic period or not. Santa Ana if coming in early at non peak time has usually been quite efficient on PPT for me.

I haven't done a PPT at Turner's since around 2002. But I've also greatly curtailed purchases of any kind from Turner's in last 5-10 years or so.

Odd as I haven't been there in a while and service was not good and other have mentioned same. Are they selling guns currently? Must be or they would refuse PPT. Unrelated but I thought this range has a policy in place to steal customers brass?

You all do realize there is an Ammo Brothers vendor subforum here if you want to address management about your concerns?

You *should* be able to do a safe affidavit instead. Good luck.

I don't know why everyone keeps holding it against the LGS when it is the state that is the one making it more and more difficult to buy a gun.

It sucks but it is what it is. The method that the gun grabbers use to make it more difficult to buy a gun is to make the process so onerous and so complicated as to make it very inconvenient to go through the process. So some of the gun stores may have devised some ways to make a couple of extra bucks in the process. I can't hold it against them. YOU and I only deal with this every blue moon when we buy or PPT a gun. THEY, on the other hand, have to deal with this crap all day every day.

I'm not endorsing their behavior. It sucks. But I can't blame them either.

So far I’ve had good luck with Ammo Bros in Cerritos, Santa and Ontario as compared to Turner’s locations. Riflegear is good too. However, I use my gunsmith for almost all my PPTs if the other party agrees. It’s Applied Kinetics in Fullerton and Josh has always been very courteous and accommodating. I’m usually done within 15 mins.

Service at Beaumont has always been great when I was there. Sometimes you reap what you sow....

They both sell and rent firearms.

As far as the brass, they do not allow you to collect brass after shooting. If that bothers you, don’t shoot there, but don’t use the term “stealing” brass. You agree to the policy when you choose to shoot there. I asked the owner about it, and he said he uses the recycled brass to offset the cost of running the range. This is also the reason they don’t allow steel or aluminum cased ammo.
