"Assault Rifles" at the Range

So here's the thing.

Couple of months ago, I was leaving for work, but couldn't, as there was a fire engine and a number of cruisers blocking my driveway. There was a guy seated cuffed on the back of the engine, receiving oxygen. This was the culmination of a foot chase. I waited for them to clear out so I could leave for work.

The guy was under a restraining order that he'd just violated, his car (conveniently, next to my driveway) wasn't registered, and had plates on it from a different car.

They let him go.

So you see, that's the reality of our times here in CA; it's apparently just ridiculously hard to get arrested. I'm not sure just how much higher the bar is than my morning perp here, but it seems to be fairly high.

And you're concerned about someone with a rifle at a shooting range, and you're presuming that you could find LE that would care. That seems a real stretch to me at the moment.

Wow, I can't believe the vaginitis that exists in this forum.

1. I'm not offended by somebody who doesn't know me calling me a snowflake, it couldn't be father from the truth. I'm a former infantryman; I can handle whatever you throw at me.

2. It is simply a matter of not understanding certain aspects of the law and a desire to go to the range without concern. I was trying to ascertain whether there was some vast loophole that these folks were taking advantage of, or if it was just mass disregard. I did manage to learn a lot on the many weekends I was collecting petition signatures for the ballot initiative to repeal some of the latest round of ridiculousness out of Sacramento, but I'm not ashamed to admit I don't know everything.

3. I'm not a rat, or a troll, or a ****tard millennial. Just a guy trying to get information for his own benefit. Notice that I didn't stick my nose into anybody's business by asking them at the range, or asking the range staff. I asked an anonymous internet community (many of whom still managed to get butt-hurt).

So, I offer to you, the sensitive masses:

First off California Uber, THANK YOU SIR for your service to our country!.
Second asking a question on Calguns can get rough, especially when you are asking about conformance to a new law that has yet to be fully implemented and even further fully understood by many. (i.e. you have to register, but the registration is not open yet).

Anyway it appears many have answered the questions correctly.

I have numerous, what you would call non compliant rifles, and incorrectly call them felonies. Their called Registered assault weapons. And if I shoot them at a range, I always get the uninformed gaukers looking c at me as if I'm doing something illegal, especially with my grandfathered 30,40 or drum magazines. (For now)

Where is the exemption in SB880 that allows us to have AWs at home until 1/2018 without transporting without committing a "felony"? Lots of guys at ranges shooting "AW's" saying it's all good until 2018. Sorry if old news but I looked through the feed and couldn't find a solid answer.

Look up section 30680 , it pretty much states those people and rifles are exempt from the law until 1/1/18.

As far as transportation laws, those only apply to REGISTERED assault weapons. And per section 30680, BB equipped ARs are not technically or legally assault weapons ...yet.

It makes me sick to my stomach every time a MODERN SPORTING RIFLE is described as an assault weapon! This mentality need to change if we are to be freed!!

What I'm more concerned with are the "overly compliant" rifles I've been seeing at the range. People with featureless rifles, poking a bullet button to drop their mags Seen that several times lately. Couldn't decide which way they wanted to make it compliant, so they chose all of them.

Even saw one featureless rifle with an armaglock, the guy was clearly having trouble pivoting his upper and lower while trying to grip the wrapped pistol grip
