Currently employed LEO's do have the ability to lawfully "go down to the local gun store and buy themselves an AW" with the provision that they must supply a departmental letter authorizing the purchase.

There is no requirement that the weapon be acquired from their department. There is no requirement that the weapon only be used on duty.

AW's so acquired can still be registered under the 1989 AW registration process.

The Attorney General has additionally issued an opinion that weapons so acquired must be surrendered at the end of their LE service.

Some gunner might want them. I sent a couple to a Cal Guns guy in Bakersfield. Glad I saved all my old mag release buttons, I put them all on the featureless.

Until their tax base is gone, then it's game over for them.

Sure, but they don't see us as taxpayers. They see us as Confederate-flag-waiving racists who are keeping our jobs out of the hands of the new demographic. The sooner they get rid of us, the sooner their constituents can do our jobs. That's how Newsom (the adulterous liar he is) and his ilk see us.

I store my Raw's next to my dirty filthy disgusting featureless guns

Standard bullet-buttoned AR-15s won't be "noncompliant" until the end of the year, and that date may end up getting extended in light of the DOJ's colossal delay in setting up the year-long registration process.
                        This. ^^
You probably saw some regular half castrated Calif ARs expecting an all featureless scenery at the range.
If you see anything that is a real AW, you can bet good money that the guy has his registration papers and copies of all related penal code in his rifle case pouch.

Sounds like some people exercising their freedom and not hurting anyone to me.

Didn't know we were LEO's. In fact, I'm 100% certain the CCW courses teach you not to act like one at all.

So why would I care if someone is breaking a stupid and pointless law? Not my job.

My only concern at the range is safety. As long as other people are handling their firearms in a safe manner, I'm only thinking about my lane.

Saw some actual non compliance at my range on Saturday. No bullet buttons or featureless. Guess people are fed up and don't care anymore. Anyway I just mind my own business and shoot.

Been shooting my AR at ranges in standard configuration for 17+ years. Never had an issue with range personelle. Have had a bunch of good semeritains try to educate me on my pre 2000 RAW being illegal.
