I guess when I see one of these threads started I see it more as a "Somebody has something that I don't have. Now come they get to have it and I don't?" kind of thing.

OP, if I upset your feelings by calling you a snowflake, then so be it. As I see it, what firearms others have, or what they chose to do with them is none of your business.

As long as they aren't hurting you, why do you even feel obligated to bring it up on an internet forum? Do you somehow have this deep seated urge to stick your nose in other peoples business? Or are you are just trying to make yourself feel more important by showing how much you (don't) know what is going on.

I think a lot of the older folks don't really care about the laws. My neighbor knows i am into guns and asked if I would take a look at his "new" rifle as he was getting light strikes. When I got there he hands me a new ar with no bullet button and a 30 round mag in it.
I asked him if he was concerned with the laws and he told me that in fact he doesn't care about the laws and he will continue to shoot it as is. the guy is in his 60's and what most would consider a back woods sort of guy.

There's no way they're all LEOs, so how is it that these guys feel so comfortable sporting their felonies in public? Is there no risk once at the range, or is there something I'm missing?

                Thanks in advance.
                You are missing a LOT.

                1. You are Clueless about current firearm laws in this state.
                2. You assumed what someone had (firearm) and who they were (LEOs or Felons) based on what you saw.

I might have been one of these "fellows" with a "non-compliant" rifle. I'm not LEO nor am I a Felon. What I am is one of the few that currently owns a Registered Assault Weapon (RAW) from back in 1999.

Please... at least try to grow a brain.

If by that you mean that my "urges" are to stay out of other peoples business, then you are right.

Unlike your "urges" that seem to think it is perfectly okay to insert yourself into others lives.

this is why lytle creek doesn't allow magazines over 10 rounds even if one had a RAW. they also have forest rangers/police go through and let them inspect everyone's rifles during cease fires.

all it takes is someone who thinks they know better to make a noise and in comes big brother.
Agreed. Despite all the guys on here outraged that someone would dare to question a firearm's legality, the truth of the matter is thats why we can't have nice things.

The law has been exploited and stretched to the limit of what it's original intent was (purposely exploited), but there are also those out there that continue to violate and flaunt their illegal firearms to the point that the politicians saw an opportunity to do something about it after the "mass shootings."

So they are closing the "loopholes." No more rebuild kits (wink wink), no more bullet buttons - this is just the beginning. Next they will close the featureless "loophole." Do you really think they won't? They are smart enough to sit back and let us do all this work to figure out the work arounds, and will just slam those doors shut.

I was at a range a year or so ago, with a featureless AR, one of the RO's asked me about the stock - what difference it made - I explained that it made the rifle not so dangerous - they got the joke

He got plenty of constructive criticism. MYOB is a perfect example of such.

I've had friendly, non-accusatory conversations with several people that had non-compliant rifles. I carry copies of the CGN AW flow-chart in my rifle bag, and I gave out a copy each time. All of these guys were simply clueless about what they had done wrong, and really appreciated the info.

I've seen GGNers say MYOB, but I think there is nothing wrong with a friendly conversation where you are simply trying to look out for a fellow shooter.
