The only time I've been threatened by a CHP officer is when I was screwing his wife. I gave her back. True story.

To quote one of my least favorite politicians of the current environment with regarding "outing the FFL", "NOPE".
She's a nice person trying to generate a new business in a small community and may very well be dis-informed. I do not need to do the business a dis-service. From my posting, should you encounter a similar display, you'll know you are in the same place.
I asked a question, you folks answered it for me ... and I thank you. I kind-a thought that what was what this board was about, silly me.
I've not taken offense. But had a laugh and learned a lot.
Again, thank you,

I've seen CHP and various other law enforcement agencies use the ranges at the Ukiah Gun Club regularly. I've had a CHP officer and a MCSO come over to my shooting area and strike up a conversation. They have always been polite but you can tell they were looking over the firearms we were shooting. They have always been polite to talk with and hopefully they will remember talking with me if for some reason I'm slightly over the speed limit on the way home.Comment

noble of you to not out the shop, I assume you will try and change their minds on the subject. But if they do not change their position will you continue to protect them? Shops that spread FUD like this are doing nothing good for legal law abiding gun owners. To quote one of my least favorite politicians of the current environment with regarding "outing the FFL", "NOPE".

LOL. Welcome to Calguns.All,
A local gun shop owner is telling me that the CA DOJ, by way of the CA Highway Patrol (the State Police) are cracking down on persons who purchased an off roster hand gun as a single shot exemption (SSE) and removed the SSE barrel restoring it to it's original condition.
He said that if they see you in possession of one, say on a range where they are practicing that they will confiscate the pistol and possibly open prosecution. The same goes for ARs that are home built out of an 80% lower.
Have any of you cats heard anything like this?
Thanks, stay safe.

I don't believe there is a "shop" saying this in the first place. There is no "outing" going to happen because there is nothing to be "outed".
This isn't year 2006, nor 2013 - every shop in CA knows the difference and how SSE and 80% has been seen to date.
For all you "cats" imbibing in the curiosity, and we know what that did to the cat.-----------------------------------------------

It isn't about creating a dis-service to a newer dealer, it's correcting bad information, as well as protecting customer's who may be naive enough to believe it. If a business is giving out bad information either willingly or simply because they don't know better, isn't it good form to correct that, especially if someone is trying to build a business? Who you're doing a dis-service to by not taking corrective measure's is new gun owner's who may believe things like this because "it came from a dealer".To quote one of my least favorite politicians of the current environment with regarding "outing the FFL", "NOPE".

My Ruger LCP has a model number that was never on the CA roster. But if you look up the numbers on it it will come back as 380 and wont say single shot....tell me again how they know by looking at it?That policy wont help you on the side of the highway. And my point wasn't that this is happening, my point was that the CHP can simply and readily identify SSE pistols if they want to, when they come in contact with pistols. Let's acknowledge that simple truth, and we can get back refuting or confirming the story line in the orginal post.Comment

Just another Troll or Shill thread.
I go to a few ranges where CHP and other LEOs go. They are often times on a lane next to me or a few feet further. Never have I seen them doing anything such as described by OP. In fact, They are all very pleasant and polite and mind their own business like everyone else on the range.
Now, if you look/act like a probable cause, have blood shut or glazed eyes with slurred speech and get stopped with a naked gun on your rear seat, they will check out your gun, but that is not for the SSE cause.
