I think your brother might need to have a long talk with Caitlin/Bruce Jenner. Buy him some Vagisil for his birthday. He'll need lots of Tampons from CostCo too. Yes, your brother is a *****.

I think you don't want to break with her,You will regret your life believe me , you will regret your life and you will remember our advise.I read all what you put there and I'm pretty sure this is the first girl in your life.Dump her and don't be afraid of if you don't find the one to spend the rest of your live with because later after marriage you will regret because you will know some others who are more beautiful and treating you better but you can't marry her because you are married.I can tell that you will come up with way to stay with her but don't forget women don't keep promises .If she promise you she will back on you latter.

First, if you are intent on staying with your GF (even though I and many here think that a mistake...mostly from personal experience), the essay is an okay start.

Second, I certainly hope that you haven't given it to her yet. It needs to be proofread, edited and corrected, multiple times. Please forgive me if I add my two cents.

        Foundation and History

The subject of firearms is a contentious one highly emotional political hotbed issue for those not familiar with guns or the actual, verifiable statistics regarding violence committed using guns and those politically motivated people intent on attaining power and control over our populaceand firearm theft. People have lost their families, jobs, fortunes, and lives because of this. Why then, would I cast my lot in with them? I do so because the ownership, carrying, and use of firearms is a basic right of intelligent and free beings. Ultimately it is up to myself to ensure my safety and the safety of my family. The police cannot do (Warren v District of Columbia, Town of Castle Rock v Gonzales. The police do not owe a specific duty to provide police services.) re read this statement, there's is something missing. The police cannot do what?. The most they can be depended upon is to examine the crime scene and maybe catch the criminal.

Criminals can strike when I am at home or out and about. All of us have the right to be unmolested by them. Laws mean nothing to them. They will use whatever means they deem necessary to achieve their goals. Once someone behaves criminally, there is no rational reason to expect them to simply take what they want and leave. This leads to the conclusion that ultimately only force will do when repelling a criminal attack. A fight with a criminal is not fair. The victim should never feel the need to fight fair. The goal is to survive. Frequently all a victim needs to do is threaten to use a weapon or show it to scare off an attacker. link to articles/videos with Dr. Gary Kleck here. His research supports this statement. Sometimes an attacker will ignore warnings and continue. If that happens, then something else must be done. Run? Is that doable? Frequently it's not. Fight the criminal hand-to-hand? Most people don't make a hobby out of that, so they're probably not going to fare well. include a question/comment about what she might do if a 225lb recidivist criminal thug (trained in jail)attempted to attack her. Could she fight him off, or would she just curl into a ball and accept whatever he might do to her Taser? Not terribly effective. Firearms remain the most effective deterrent of violent attacks.

Maybe a society can completely ban firearms and restrict them only to military and law enforcement personnel. The justification for this being that only military and law enforcement personnel are trained and skilled enough to use firearms responsibly. and criminals will disregard the laws, that's why they're criminals. How can this be when firearms training is easily available. Never mind that military personal often go back to being civilians and retain their training. That genie cannot be put back into its bottle. At least in the United States, banning guns is more likely to encourage violent crime because law-abiding and honest citizens won't resist will effectively be unable to resistI don't choose who dies, I chose that I and my family live. If that means the death of a criminal attempting to kill or inflict great bodily injury on me/us, so be it.accidentally fire guns sometimes cause a negligent discharge of their firearmnegligible statistically insignificantwould go off may occasionally have dischargedhistory has also shown that if only the police and military have guns, the chance that tyranny will escalate is increased. mao, stalin, and hitler come immediately to mind.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sEYGcXSmpQhttp://www.corneredcat.com/article/w...i-carry-a-gun/http://blog.beretta.com/12-reasons-to-concealed-carryhttp://www.gunfacts.info/gun-control...ncealed-carry/
Numerous facts and myths about concealed carry with references. The whole webpage is full of documented and verified facts on many other gun-related topics.

        Conclusions

I own and carry firearms for the defense of myself, my family, and whoever happens to be nearby. I am not afraid to defend myself and others should the need arise. I hope this article has been enlightening. Please feel free to ask me any other questions you may have.
Now the suggestions I've added, once incorporated would then need to be edited again, and again. I have read through them a couple of times and have already found some of my comments could be further edited and refined.

You should look a upon it as essentially an argumentative essay (position paper). Meant, at the least to cause the reader to consider more deeply their disagreement to the main issue. Or possibly re-evaluate their own position on the matter.

I make no claim to be highly skilled in the use of the English language, form or grammar/punctuation. In fact I'm sure that there are others here could provide additional suggestions that would be more powerful and persuasive than mine.

Again I say, run, run away.

        Good luck.
        Sorry, not sorry.

OMG ... Frotz ... you sent the SA already ...?!?

The whole idea of posting the SA is so we could proof read/edit and THEN you send it.

Like WWII says ... need proof read and edit a few times until it's right but now...

It may be too late - Did you really send it already?

I admittedly didn't read this whole thread, but here's what I would do in this situation.

                  1. Dump the girl. Sorry, if she's this irrational about your personal protection, you might as well get it over with now. Save yourself the grief of trying to "convert" her.

                  2. Find a smarter, less irrational girl to date.

                  3. Buy a new gun. Ok maybe this should be #1.
There is no week nor day nor hour, when tyranny may not enter upon this country, if the people lose their supreme confidence in themselves -- and lose their roughness and spirit of defiance -- Tyranny may always enter -- there is no charm, no bar against it -- the only bar against it is a large resolute breed of men.

                        1. I'm seriously considering it based on the reaction to the paper when I get it done. The stuff her mother keeps sending me is bugging me now -- lots of hoplophobic and progressive nonsense.

                        2. Definitely. I'll bring up the topic of guns on the first date and that'll be a litmus test for continuing.

                        3. I made a big sale a couple days ago, so I'm considering that. I've always wanted a Ruger LCP.

I sent her an URL to the article which I put on a personal server. She was out with friends and said that she'd read it when she got home. A minute or so after that, I thought better of this and deleted the article and told her that my server is being surly.

No. Her mother is from upstate New York and her father is from somewhere in the midwest. She was born and raised in northwest Washington, which is where I live now.
