^^^New name for his site. But it's still AI&P Tactical. JD McGuire knows a lot about the 870..about as much as anyone does I'd go so far to say. Not sure what kind of work they're doing there nowadays. He used to sell fully tricked out 870s. But give him a call.
I spoke with him years ago regarding work on an 870. He actually talked me out of some stuff and advised me of parts upgrades that were more important. And rather than send him my gun I could order the parts and install them myself saving time and money. If that's not customer service I don't know what is.

Can you start a new thread on the choke?

What shot are you going to be using?
Purpose - home defense - game - etc

I gave up on that choke. The manufacturer offered to make one for me in a LM constriction but I got one from SKB close enough as it would have taken a few weeks.

I shoot sporting clays and was intended for #7.5 birdshot low recoil loads in a 30" 20 gauge SxS. So ports on the muzzle will only strip the wad as far as I can reckon.

Honestly I would call and ask to have my property returned. Really I am happy for Vang but you are being forgotten.

OK guys I think this has been taken care of. The gun was finished except for the rear sight and without the rear sight it is useless..

Cody is having a problem with the supplier of the rear sight assembly and that's where the hold up is.

I am going to be looking at these along with a shop I use that is a little more reliable.

Please don't think these guys are a bunch of Flakes, they do really nice work.

Lots of people here have a tendency to go off half cocked and say a bunch of negative stuff when they don't understand the issue. It is not as simple as it appears.

You did good for the OP. Unfortunately, the guys at Vang need to figure out their customer communication just as much as their supply issues. This one gun was a very visible situation for a lot of people. After the initial post, they probably should have communicated a lot better with the OP. Any little glitch could have been smoothed out with a 30 second call, text or email.

Nice! I can see how that rear sight can be complicated. Glad they got some bugs worked out.

Terry: Thanks for the Nod. Something you guys are not aware of is that Cody gets @80 emails a day, and another 60 or so phone messages. He works from 6AM to 6+ PM 6-7 days a week.

I understand the frustration of it looking like you are being ignored. I see it at McDonalds frequently when people are waiting to place an order and there is nobody at the Cash Register to take them. A simple We'll be right with you will generally fix the problem.

Unfortunately his calls require more than an "I'll be right with you," so he's looking at minutes. As an example My call to him today lasted 20 minutes. Discussing the sight project.

Why

They are optimistic about things....

I had an experience with a shop in OC and it took 6 months longer than promised.

I know a lot of small shops need 2 of the owner
1 to sit on the phone all day
1 to work

I just had a remodel get delayed as
Base board was out of stock
Solid core doors were out of stock
Panel ready dishwashers - unobtanium
Drawer glides - none in the us

All work was done except for those items
It took 90 days to get that all in stock.
