If you were shooting a ported barrel on the skeet field, it might annoy some of the other shooters. But in reality, it's not big a deal.
If your goal is to annoy them, it might be mission accomplished.

On the trap field most of the guys are annoyed to begin with , so it really doesn't change things.

Last weekend I was at a pheasant hunt and needed to loan out my over/under to a kid who's auto had failed. My backup was my Vang Comp. Everyone laughed until I dropped a pheasant that was flying high right. Love that gun.

I should have patterned #5 or 6's into the same size as 00 Buck.

A little tight for shooting doves, but not so much of Pheasants.

^ This is awesome! Love that you aced that ring neck with a 18” barrel 1300 defender , I’ve hunted pheasant before and when they are flying away from you and flattened out they can seem to have “armor plating” feathers fly and they still keep going..wow I’m impressed Randy said doing the Vancomp process can make a 12 gauge print a 7” group at 25 yards and slightly reduce recoil at the same time.. I have the exact Winchester Defender, looks like I’ll be getting inline for the treatment. If it works as spoken on I might have to send out one of my Benelli M3 barrels next .

Those Defenders are some of the most under rated guns made. They are light, quick and reliable.
Adding the VCS barrel work makes them unbeatable.
I've always said that Hans took a gun I hated and made it a gun I couldn't put down.
The recoil from an 18" barrel sucks. My gun now recoils less than the autos I put next to it.

Hi Randy - I did not. I got a call from Cody on 11/2 and he told me it was all done and I paid for the job. Haven't gotten a tracking number or anything. I'm sure it will look and shoot super good.

I have an interesting opportunity. I bought a matched paid of PA State Police 870P Mags. My son and I returned one to totally stock (plastic off, wood on, bb-sight). I love the "original" look and have fired a few boxes through it. I love it. Recoil is like getting kicked by a mule, and Jr got sore quick (he's 5'11" and 240lbs). When I get mine back from Cody, we can go to the range together and test them side-by-side. I'll get a good read on recoil, muzzle flip, and groupings. I like my slugs, so anxious to see how she does with slugs at 100yds.

FWIW- the boy likes the vintage look. His favorite is his Moisin, and his first AR built is complete with handle and open sights. My AR's have every toy I could afford to clip on. He even took off the Surefire tac-light off and threw it in my parts box.

I'll definitely post pics, video and all that stuff when I get my VCS back.

Just a note: I sent my shotty with all parts. Rail, LPA rifle sights, mag tube, etc. Cody found a +2 remington mag tube for me, so I'll get the Wilson back. I like the rem tube better.

I found this thread and hope everyone that is waiting for the completion and return of their firearm has received it already. I sent in my 870 back in June 2022. When I first spoke to Cody back in June he said it would take 60 days. It came and gone and I called him again and he said 90 days. Now 7 months later nothing. Vang comp should charge for their services after its been completed and not up front. I've sent out many firearms for custom jobs and services and some I paid after its been completed and the ones that didn't was completed in a timely manner or as promised. If Vang comp's practice is take up to or more than 6 months to even finish an up grade, they should charge after its done and not take payment up front. If anyone is thinking about sending their shotgun to them, you better be ready for the wait or just buy some federal flight control wads for a tighter pattern lol.

Yes I did the full upgrade and cut the stock down for a shorter length of pull. I wouldn't chance it to send your barrel but I've read that barrels are shorter turn around time because they won't be waiting on parts to do the service.

Common folks like us with no YouTube channel gets a turnaround time of no less than 6 months.I contacted Cody today and he said it should be completed shortly. Just waiting on the rear sights to come in. So my guess is a few more months. Nothing left to do but twiddle my thumbs.

OK just got off the phone with Cody, the lead time on Barrel work is 3-4 weeks.

All of the Custom Gun Work is being done in the order it was received and once again the bottleneck is the rear sights. The guy making them is overwhelmed with work.

When I asked how many he could make a month he said 500. EXCEPT he has been taking in other work? I indicated that a $50,000 a month job would take precedent in my shop and any other one I have ever been around and that some butt kicking needed to happen.

Then we discussed other Rear Sight Options that they could do right now and they have some Open Sight Options that sound good. I might add that all the Police "Less than Lethal" guns come with Remington Open Rear Sights, which can be an option. Also they have another Pistol Rear Sight and Front Sight combo that sounded good. This could speed up the return of your complete gun, but suffice to say they aren't going to just cobble stuff together and Compromise Quality. It has to look right and be a solid install or they won't do it.

They are not taking any more full custom jobs for the time being until they get this rear sight issue sorted out. And also they are continuously looking for more "Qualified Help" which is hard to find in Las Vegas ! Plenty of Hispanic Laborers walking the streets, and who ever is renting the Traffic Cones in that town is making BANK!

Hope this helps to quell some of the Hostility. Please understand,, I actually know these guys. They are good guys, they are just overwhelmed with work right now and a supply chain that has one major bottleneck in it.

All that said,,, the products are worth having or I wouldn't defend them.

And Flight Control ammo is not as good as you think it is and that is if you cna even find some to buy. Federal sold the rights to the FC wad to Hornaday for their Critical Defense Ammo. Be prepared to spend $3-4 per round for that ammo.

I own 4 Vang Comps in various configurations.
I'll eventually send in a fifth for a complete custom job and will happily wait for them.
I prefer the Winchesters over the Mossys and 870s.
Since Cody joined the team and eventually took over, we have discussed their timelines on several occasions.
When Covid hit, they ran into a few problems. Not with the staffing but with the raw materials and parts they don't make in house.
They are very specific about the tool steel that they use and Covid wiped out the available tool steel for smaller shops like theirs.
Then Cody and co relocated the business to Las Vegas and pushed the company in a direction that Hans was too tired to do.
We are starting to see them turn into another custom gun company and a household name the way Taran became.
Before Cody, Vang Comp was primarily oriented to government customers.
I'm happy he is furthering the company, like everyone else, he now has a huge influx of work and still needs to focus on quality over quantity.
You'll notice that they are not at SHOT this year so they can focus on their existing orders.
