This is beyond ridiculous. You sound like battered women. He loves me, everything will be ok. I get backlogs, but seriously, stop taking new jobs.Comment

^^Well said.
There's gotta be somebody else out there doing similar/reliable work.
Is it really worth the wait time to be without your shotgun? Unless you are competing with it..which I would think you probably have multiple shotguns in that case so being without 1 or 2 isn't a big deal..but I wouldn't want to be without one of my HD shotguns for months and months with no real completion date in the near future.
Ask yourself..will my tricked out shotgun make that big of a difference if I have to break it out in a HD situation vs the stock shotgun? Recoil/flight pattern/etc isn't going to matter much in a hallway. And if you don't have your tricked out shotgun in the first place it really won't matter.
I don't shoot clay or hunt with my shotguns..strictly HD. But I know how they work and go bang every time I ask them to.

That is right. The term "Supply Chain Shortages" does not cut it anymore. If you don't have the goods to sell, decline the job. I agree there are worker shortages, so just raise prices and lengthen lead times but be on time.^^Well said.

I had 2 shotgun barrels sent out for reaming, and threading for choke tubes. The first time the turn around was 2 days. The second time was 1 week. Shipping took longer.Alfred E. Neuman 2024

Are you happy with it? Tell us about it and put some pics of the gun up as well.
Be nice to see some real world results for these guns.

If anyone wants to see real world results with Vang Comp shotguns, PM me and bring your unported 18" 870, 500/590, 1300 in 12 or 20 to compare to mine. I'm in Santa Barbara but am frequently in SLO.
Yesterday I test fired a 20ga 1300 with the VCS next to my 20ga 1300 without. Just the reduction in recoil makes it worth it.Comment

Randy, you wanna make a bet I get a barrel back in the estimated time? I’m a sporting man and will put up some money?Comment

I'm at 51 days waiting for just barrel work. Hoping to get it shipped back any day now.Comment

Do you come to the 3 gun shoots at Winchester Canyon? Do I know you? Would I have seen you there? If anyone wants to see real world results with Vang Comp shotguns, PM me and bring your unported 18" 870, 500/590, 1300 in 12 or 20 to compare to mine. I'm in Santa Barbara but am frequently in SLO.

We get so many naysayers about this process, it is good to hear from someone who actually has First Hand Knowledge, besides me.
Mike, I just got my two barreled actions back from them today after being Cera-Koted. Took 2 weeks? but that was a week longer than I expected because they got in a shipment of 200 870's for DHS and they are worth more money to them than my paltry hobby projects. My barrels were worked in with a batch of 90 barrels from that big order.
I figure if you want the product then you need to understand that we are dealing with a small outfit with only a few guys working 6-7 days a week trying to keep everyone happy and make a living as well. Sometimes it takes longer than expected.
If you told everyone their project would take 2 weeks and then you got a big job in from a Govt Agency that was worth $500K, should you call everyone and tell them it was going to take longer, when you have 30 other jobs like yours in Que? Point being you'd have to spend time calling everyone and then deal with them on the phone when they call back, instead of working to get something done.
Cody spends a good portion of his day on the phone fielding calls from customers, and answering emails. I even have a tough time getting thru to him during the week and he actually likes me!
.
Lets face it, " You" Deckhand Mike, are never going to buy anything from this outfit anyway, and have said so many times. So why bother?

The naysayers are not negative about the completed work, only about getting the work completed. And by your own admission, you know them, and they obviously took care of you in a very short time. Whereas others here are still waiting for their products. That is some real BS!! A repeat customer gets hooked up while a first-timer gets to wait. If there weren't extended wait times being had by many, I could see them taking care of you. Most companies would do the same. But they sure as s#!t shouldn't be taking your barrels in and sending them back out when there are still customers waiting for months to get their work completed.

As a technician who relies on repeat customers who happily pay promptly, I absolutely do as Vang Comp has done. The naysayers are not negative about the completed work, only about getting the work completed. New customers are variables who may never call again and may not pay promptly. They might also bitch about nuances in the completed work.
In my work, new customers wait until the repeat customers are taken care of.
Having heard horror stories about gunsmiths not getting paid for quality work and having had customers not pay me for my quality work and want extra crap done for free because that new customer is "special" I will always follow that business model.
I also take care of my friends and neighbors first, because I have to live with them long after my work is done.
Wouldn't you?Comment
