These ammo flippers are the same guys who will drive ten miles across town to save 3 cents a gallon on gas. There is no way they are making good money on this stuff. It's peanuts at best.

I don't think theres a need to generalize and insult "flippers." These types of money-making opportunities usually arise due to the demand for it. If there weren't people that were willing to pay these prices, the flippers wouldn't invest their time/energy into it.

I suspect many are jobless so doubling your money on some ammo makes you a few bucks. For the first time in line at my local Turners, we had two different people approach us with ammo they were selling at a good price! One had had to sell the gun his .40 was used in and other had found a deal somewhere and was making a few bucks!! Better than selling drugs or robbing liquor stores!!

I am sure that with the economy so bad (thanks Bush... AND especially Obama) people need to subsidize income any way they can. MANY people have much lower wages than before Obama, and many are stuck in a a more dead-end-job than they were before, but mostly that is because they either always chose to make just a bit more with a company that might be less stable, or never really had the work ethic to stick anywhere very long, there are exceptions to this... ... ...

If people have time to do this and make a few bucks, I don't care, but the irritating thing is every time I go somewhere to get 22lr, it is still sold out everywhere, AND with the "Zombies coming" I can't shoot my reserves until I get more...

I really wish people would buy what they feel they want/need for themselves and didn't feel the need to make a buck off their fellow shooters but sadly you cant legislate morality.

None were bought in bulk, just a box or 2 anytime I was near a China Mart.

It's far easier to get a little often, than to ***** and moan that you ran out and need to go shooting in an hour.

This. Yesterday on my way down from Nor Cal, I hit WM in Manteca, Modesto Plaza, Modesto McHenry, Ceres and Turlock. I was able to grab enough .22 LR to add to the stash to keep the pistols plinking with reasonably priced ammo for a good, long time.

I am still buying ammo but the good stuff, by the case. Currently less cost that buying bulk in most cases.

This. Thank goodness someone whispered this in my ear a few months ago. There is enough .22 LR Match Target, Match Extra and Standard Plus for me, my Goddaughter and her two sisters to shoot in the Ultra Lux for a good, long time. Yes, I realize that buying ammo by the case is not possible by those without enough disposable income, but if you can, do it. You will not regret it.

In fact yesterday I gave away 2 boxes of .22's to a young couple that were shooting for the very first time.

Because I didn't pay current market prices for plinking .22 LR, I don't have an issue letting people send a magazine downrange in my firearms and/or giving them 50 rounds of .22LR if they are newbies and/or struggling with the ammo they were able to buy (i.e. RN, if they're having issues with HPs). I hope more of us can do these things, so people who are new to shooting sports can learn to enjoy it as much as we do.

I know of a gun shop that would go into Wal-Mart, clean it out of gun related items and put it on their shelf for 20-30 percent higher.

I found some 100 round value packs of WWB in 40 a few weeks ago at my local WM. I asked the clerk if they are selling out all ammo, or if they just haven't gotten any shipments (trying to see if there's a group cleaning them out or not). His reply was they haven't seen any significant ammo shipments fro months.

This is exactly the case. How many times have I seen on this website where folks are paying $40+ for 550 rounds of bulk (like Rem GBs) ammo. Don't expect gunshops/flippers/big box stores to sell at more reasonable prices when folks are willing to pay more. If one does pay the elevated prices that becomes the new norm. I know lots of shooters need/want ammo but until folks stop paying outrageous prices for .22lr ammo, this will continue.

Of course its your money and I am not one to judge what you do with it, just saying as long as buyers are willing to pay the price, that's the price.
