Yeah I wasn't impressed either with the molded swivel inlets. They would probably hold up okay but would real swivels cost much more?NRA Life Member

I used my molded eyelets at Appleseed about three weeks ago. Worked fine. No problems. If they ever break, I'll buy the metal studs.Comment

Ordered a Boyd's Rimfire Hunter. Waiting for delivery. Have to see how the rifle is with the new stock.NRA Life Member

795 Trigger Guard replacement
I got a replacement trigger guard from Marlin in the mail today. The original snapped in two.
The replacement does not included the trigger components, so I had to drift out the pins holding the trigger and spring, plus the small pin holding the safety assembly.
I made my first mistake on the safety. I was unaware that the safety pin held a spring beneath it, so when the pin was removed the spring went flying. I'll never find it.
The other problem I encountered was the reassembly of the trigger/spring combo. When I put those two pins back where I thought they belonged, the trigger has a very short travel and doesn't release the bolt. Obviously, I wasn't paying enough attention when I disassembled.
Can anyone coach me through that portion of the re-assembly?
Thanks for your attention.Comment

I think best way is Youtube, there are several breakdown vids for the 795/60 and all parts are there. A picture is worth a thousand words.
Bright side is that very soon you will be an expert in trigger assemblies. Post your own vid to explain the pitfalls therein and be a hero as well.Last edited by CharlesV; 08-15-2014, 4:40 PM.Slim River Carry Slings for Henry AR-7Comment

4Patriot, check out this PDF:
Its for installing a DIP metal trigger guard and to do so you have to remove the parts from the original guard like you are doing.
Ignore the parts about their target trigger and their threaded pins.
You're going to need that spring... Best to email/call Marlin and ask for a complete trigger guard assembly... I would think they would send one for free. Contact information can be found on the first page.
CharlesV, I doubt a single one of those videos will help him with the trigger guard, trigger and safety... Those are not parts that normally take apart but kept as one assembly during disassembly.I think best way is Youtube, there are several breakdown vids for the 795/60 and all parts are there. I know not everyone here in So-Cal is a Turners fan, but the 795 on sale in Turners Fall Flyer 8/15-9/18 for $149 if you're interested.

Speaking of this...
I made some "modifications"
to my stock last night...

Dang takedown screw! Trigger guard was a little tight, pulling it out, jerked and it snapped at the opening for the bolt release!
Stand up and be counted, or lay down and be mounted... -Mac

Marlin 795 MEGATHREAD Part Deuce
I might do one for fun and for the trigger but can't justify all of mine. Would be like $650!
It's a design flaw IMO. I need to look closer at that junction, what's stopping from putting a "washer/sleeve" there to support the trigger guard directly at the screw?

Personally id pay more....what, $50.....for a rifle with some stronger parts. It shouldnt be that the parts snap in two when you get near the rifle and call the parts name.
When Turners had the 795 for $79 not long ago it sorta made me sick. Yeah great price but considering the profits along the way before it comes to you, how much workmanship can one expect for such low money? Instead of having to aftermarket the rifle to death later isnt it overall cheaper to just make it a bit better to start with?Slim River Carry Slings for Henry AR-7Comment

What are you even talking about?
MIM stands for metal injection molding
The stock trigger guard is plastic.
Hah. I need to add one to my wifes 795. I did all the polishing and spring mods but the trigger and guard with the setscrews really finishes the build
Cost plain and simple is why its weak.. Cerberus is cutting cost everywhere they can in all their brands and lines. Thats why they went to injected swing studs on the stocks.
I need to look at pillar bedding the stock. Might be something similar to the "washer/sleeve" your talking about.Comment
