I lubed up the internals but did not adjust the bolt spring. All ammo fed perfectly. The Remington Golden Bullet did not always fire. If the extractor did not eject the unfired round, it would take a second hit to fire. No problems at all with the Federal or Winchester. Fired about 60 rounds of each with no problems.

Next, I tried dialing in my Leupold 3-9 X 40 on a LaRue Tactical SPR-E mount at 50 yards. I keep a cheap Celestron spotting scope in the trunk, but my son was using it to sight in his rifle. Because my target holder backing was so full of holes, I couldn't tell where my hits were.

At the first cease-fire I walked out and could see they were low left. I brought the target in to 25 yards and zeroed it from that range. It didn't take long to get it zeroed and soon I was hitting the 1 inch black dots that come with the Shoot N C targets. At 25 yards I could keep all the shots within one of those black dots, but it took a lot of effort on my part because the trigger on my Umarex is horrible.

Next I let my 13 year-old shoot the Umarex. He had sighted in the scope on his Romanian M1969 .22 trainer and was ready for some blasting. He was banging away on the 100 yard plates with no problem. Next he shot some pretty nice 25 yard groups, then he started complaining about the trigger.

Other than the trigger, I have no complaints about the Umarex. It fed everything, just wouldn't fire everything. Time to order a couple of extra magazines.

We were in a hurry to get to a Boy Scout meeting so we had to leave. Next time out we'll have to try some accuracy testing. Looks like I need to get another spotting scope.
Thanks for the Update. I need to clear something. THIS IS NOT A UMAREX.... Umarex is the Importer.. It's like calling an ak Mitchell... This a Colt made in Germany....

You can call the rifle anything you want, but it's not a Colt. Sure it says "Colt", but so does my airsoft 1911 from Marui. If anything, I suppose it should be called a Walther since that's who make its. But it's definitely NOT a Colt M4 Carbine in spite of what is rollmarked on the gun or what's printed on the packaging. It is also NOT an AR even though it looks like one and handles like one.

If you want an AR, don't buy the Umarex/Walther/Colt. Get a dedicated upper for your AR lower. It will cost you a lot more, but you'll have an AR. If you want a reasonably priced rifle that looks EXACTLY like a Colt M4, get the Umarex/Walther/Colt.

This rifle is showing in our Sku Book but I do not know when or if we will be recieving these for certain.
I'm glad to know they seem to be working out well for those who've already gotten one.

I handled one of the new Colt M4's in .22LR on Friday at Turners in Fountain Valley. I was not impressed at all. The rifle felt fragile and cheaply made. I own a real Colt AR15 and this one feels nothing like it. The bolt release is not real, the charging handle does not include the latch like a real AR and there are several other things which make the new Colt feel much like an airsoft rifle. I am sure it shoots great but so does my GSG-5.

I actually believe my GSG-5 feels more substantial than the new Colt even though it is mostly plastic while the Colt is steel or aluminum. Don't get me wrong, I am a dedicated Colt fan but this new rifle is a disappointment to me. Before I would drop a wad on this rifle I would buy a dedicated .22 upper or a conversion kit.

i'm waiting for the S&W version. cheaper than any conversion.

and since i have no AR lower, I will still be ahead in terms of total cost vs .22lr upper with lower.

A GSG does not compare, Apples and Oranges, Both nice guns.. Even though I have a colt, A gsg and a 1022 I will still down the road get a Spikes upper in 22 to be with my real colt ar-15.... If I can get a S & W I can do a range report shoot out.

Here you go Big Mac, knocking yourself out. It's only $875 for the upper and guarantee not to feel cheap. Even tho its only a 22lr and not a battle rifle. A complete rifle should only set you back about $1400-$1500

I don't want to trash the OP's thread and am sorry to have posted my negative review of the Colt on his thread.

However, since I was called out I will add my two cents. Rather than buy a dedicated upper I would just buy a conversion kit. I purchased a conversion kit for my Colt AR back in the early 90's from SARCO - I believe my kit is a military M261 kit. I have shot countless rounds through it and am just now starting to have feed problems with the magazines (I plan to try some of the new plastic mags out there one of these days). Not bad for a 17 year old kit.

I know a lot of people will say that a conversion kit is not as accurate as a .22LR dedicated upper because of the barrel internal dimensions. Well, my rifle with conversion kit is accurate enough for me and can make some nice groups at 100 yards with open sites. It's not as accurate as my 10/22 but it isn't that far off either. Another benefit to a conversion kit over a dedicated upper is the fact that you do not have to move optics from one upper to the other or buy a second optic. Big savings in my boat!

There is no crapping here, but this is a range report on the colt 22, not a upper comparison report. If you had groups of your 22 conversion kit against the colt then I would say your in...

I shot my Colt M4 today. The range I have at my office is only about 20 yards. I just shot 20 rounds without doing anything on the rifle. No new lube, no cleaning or anything. It sot 8 rounds in one hole and 2 rounds within 1/2 inch from the main group. I was happy with my rifle. Will take out to the range and shoot at 50 and 100 yards.

I went to see them at Turners also, felt nice and heavy to me, less plasticy than the GSG5 too. Needless to say, mine is in the ten day jail until monday!! I can't wait!

I am just glad that they will be more affordable than building one. I was on the way to building up a Spikes tactical dedicated .22 but since the upper alone with shipping and no mage would cost as much as this rifle, I think that the colt would be a better buy. Nice to hear they're at turners too.
