Sorry. I guess the better question would be, does the bolt hold keep the bolt opened when the mag is out like a regular AR upper, or is it like a Spike's where when the mag is removed (if it has a follower) the bolt closes?

Very nice. My CMMG dedicated upper wasn't half as accurate as that.

            IsaacGlass,

Yeah my brother in law owes me 200 rounds. You know I didn't notice the difference when loosening the flash hider either. I just like the fact that the pins doesn't just fall off...well secured. Man it sure is a lot of work when cleaning this rifle. I wish it was like the Ruger 10/22 where I actually take the bolt action, trigger mechanism, etc. to give a thorough cleaning.

I have not been there yet. But There are some videos on youtube already.. I wish the bolt release was functional... I think the design on the mags are the best in the biz.. I'm wondering who is going to jump on the bandwagon for after market accesories.

I actually spray it down with carburetor cleaner, then re-lube with CLP after every range session (min 200 rounds)

Good stuff. I wonder why the conversion and dedicated .22 uppers don't do this.....

I'm sure they looked at other 22;s before they started this project. I am sure more 22's will come out of the pipeline..I want to see how long the feed lips on te mags will last. That is the weakest point that I see so far after 1000 of rounds. Will be intresting to see what the life is on the mags..

Black Dogs for a Spike's conversion don't fit. Not only are the feed lips in the wrong location, but the Umarex bolt catch is in the mag well. Don't try to seat a BDM or any AR type magazine in the Umarex or you will damage the bolt catch.

Took the Umarex to the Angeles Shooting Ranges today for function testing and to zero a scope. I took a variety of bulk .22 ammo including Federal copper wash in the 550 round box, Winchester Super-X lead in the white box with red lettering, and Remington Golden Bullet.

I lubed up the internals but did not adjust the bolt spring. All ammo fed perfectly. The Remington Golden Bullet did not always fire. If the extractor did not eject the unfired round, it would take a second hit to fire. No problems at all with the Federal or Winchester. Fired about 60 rounds of each with no problems.

Next, I tried dialing in my Leupold 3-9 X 40 on a LaRue Tactical SPR-E mount at 50 yards. I keep a cheap Celestron spotting scope in the trunk, but my son was using it to sight in his rifle. Because my target holder backing was so full of holes, I couldn't tell where my hits were.

At the first cease-fire I walked out and could see they were low left. I brought the target in to 25 yards and zeroed it from that range. It didn't take long to get it zeroed and soon I was hitting the 1 inch black dots that come with the Shoot N C targets. At 25 yards I could keep all the shots within one of those black dots, but it took a lot of effort on my part because the trigger on my Umarex is horrible.

Next I let my 13 year-old shoot the Umarex. He had sighted in the scope on his Romanian M1969 .22 trainer and was ready for some blasting. He was banging away on the 100 yard plates with no problem. Next he shot some pretty nice 25 yard groups, then he started complaining about the trigger.

Other than the trigger, I have no complaints about the Umarex. It fed everything, just wouldn't fire everything. Time to order a couple of extra magazines.

We were in a hurry to get to a Boy Scout meeting so we had to leave. Next time out we'll have to try some accuracy testing. Looks like I need to get another spotting scope.
