I just cleaned mine for the first time in a few years. I thought I'd never get the bolt out of the receiver. But with some patience I got it cleaned up and ready for a few 10K rounds more.

I want to attent a Appleseed but dam 75 bucks...... Maybe next year.
$75 for a 2 day course IMO is pretty darn cheap. I plan on attending sometime this year.

Anybody compare a standard 795 to a 795SS? I'm curious because I've never seen the problems that people note in this thread with my 795.

Got mine in '08 for $150, original buyer backed out so I got the SS for the same cost at the time as a blued model. Here it wears the old El Paso Weaver 4x Challenger.
Alot isn't a word and allot isn't the word you think it is.

I'd really like a Colt 1903 frame, bad finish okay!
I'm also looking for a good deal on a 1911 frame or two for budget/spare parts builds.

It is pricey but see bolded below.

Called CDNN and some Marlin-specific sites and no one had an ETA on them; I was told to check CDNN () or MidwayUSA or Brownells. Brownells has them for around $33 before shipping.

Tech sights are still on my list; love them for my Mini. Appleseed is on the list as well. I got the 795 for Appleseed and it's fun picking a platform and building a gun for a specific purpose.

As for polishing what did you use? Dremel and Flitz? I have the overspray as well and was thinking about what to do about it. Good excuse to get a Dremel or Roto-Zip kit.

I first used some 400-800 grit sand paper to cut through the overspray then a dremmel and some polishing compound (don't know brand) and gave it a few passes. I also ran some sandpaper over the sharp edges of the bolt too just want to get everything smooth.

Appleseed is on my list this year I'll probably end up doing the 2 day I'll just have to wait and see what location it will be at when I'm ready. It does look super fun though!

Let us know how it fires as I was thinking about cleaning out that overspray (which I think you mean the black on the underside of the bolt). btw, why does Marlin put that there in the first place? esp' if it should run smoother w/o it there?

Thanks for the info! I plan on doing a full takedown/cleaning in next few days.

Today was a good day for the Marlin; got the RimfireTech charging handle, the missing trigger from DIP, and the 4 mags from MidwayUSA all in the mail today.

                TechSights will be ordered soon.

Just a heads up Turners Spring Sale Flyer is out!
                  Prices start March 30th

Marlin 795 on sale for 149.98 (Usually 159.99)

Might not be the best price considering last years prices and rebate but it's still worth it IMO

BTW Marlin 60 wood stock on sale for 159.98

Big 5 has the 795 "on sale" for 164.99..... Not much of a sale.

So what do you guys think, should I just bite the bullet and go with Turners $149?

Man a lot of you guys got a sweet deal when you were getting em for 130 out the door!

I'm hoping Marlin will bring back the Rebate.

If anyone sees a cheaper instore price please let me know.
                      Thanks

so is there a stock available that does not require any dremel work?

The dremeling or chiseling/coping sawing really isnt that bad at all.

There are 2 but they are not sold anymore so they will be hard to find

As an update for the removing polishing inside the receiver and it shoots so nice it's so smooth like butter! When I got back from range I found that the tec sights came in the mail! Damn why didn't they come 2 hours earlier! Install was really easy. Quite good quality, though the rear sight adjustment (vertical) seems a bit small and hard to turn. But since it will be a set it and forget it.

Tried going to indoor range they were still closed but they were putting in the new backstop. It looks wicked! Maybe this coming weekend.
