.22 lr ammo availability improving?

I think you missed his point.
He was talking about the guys who sit there early in the morning and buy it all up then post it for sale on Calguns in the private ammo for sale section at inflated prices.
If you go there it is mostly regulars and they are doing it as a business not a private ammo sale.

He put "hoarders" and "resellers" in the same category, and I was pointing out that if "stockpilers" are part of the former, I'm OK with that. I'm not that happy about price gougers, but the Walmart resellers are small time, compared to the online gougers that have access to much larger quantities and do the same.

For me, I just purchase ammo and supplies steadily, regardless of if it's easy or harder to find it. If I have to get up early or go wait in a line to get it when supplies are low, I'll do that, and if it's in good supply, I buy it then, but not a ton at a time, just a steady pace, but either way, I only buy at a reasonable price.

I have resold a bit of ammo too, but have never made a profit off of any fellow shooter. When I've sold it here, it's been at exactly the price I bought it for, plus maybe a couple of bucks for gas, but only if I had to make a special trip (if I could figure out a place to meet that I"d be going anyway, then there's no reason to charge anything for the gas). The only time I've sold ammo is if it doesn't work well in my guns, or if I want to buy some match ammo, funded by selling off some bulk.

So even for resellers, the only problem I have with the Walmart guys, since I don't buy from them, is that it makes me have to figure out the system to find the ammo and take my chances that it will be there after waiting two hours in line.

Heads up! Looks like the Federal 745 Champion bulk packs are shipping again. I just ordered 5 of the 525 boxes from Defender Outdoors. I overpaid, $29 plus shipping, but I figure in 9 months, that will sadly look like a screaming good deal. Anyway, i'll be watching the other online stores over the next few day, and hopefully dollar-cost-average my overall per box costs down.

EDIT: Ugh, they just cancelled my order. Standard "you're screwed, you live in California" stuff. I'll still keep looking for the ones that I know ship to CA, now that they're shipping the Federal again.

Just got some at my local Dick's in NC. $20.10 out the door for Fed Automatch - no limit.

I only bought 5 since I have a good amount of rimfire around, and they did have lots on the shelf.

Check out person must have a rung it up wrong as it was $20.81 total for all 5. I told her I thought it was wrong, but she said that's how it rung up.

I trusted her. She's the expert, I guess.

Minimags are regularly found for .09 to .10 round. (Ammoman mini mag HP at .09 last week 200 round limit). The giant bucket o bullets are down to .05 a round. Buy now as when the ammo ban hits a brick on .22's will count as a full month's purchase.

Federal .22 lr:
The store had 14 when I got there, bought 4 because they said there was a limit. $0.0634 per bullet out the door.

A day or two ago, all the stores had bucket o bullets and remingtons in stock, now most are out... WTF!

7 cents a round seems to be the norm now. with deals online coming in at maybe 5-6 cents per round.

^Good to see availability coming back, but when Hilary gets in availability will probably go back to January 2013 (22 lr extinction). I hope I'm wrong.
