Checking in 18months after purchase of model 70.

Have shot about 500rds through it so far, 100rds of nice hornady ammo, 400rds of 30-06 mil surplus. Only have access to 100yd ranges, but can put 2rds thru same hole @100yds with mil-surp ammo. Very happy with my old Winchester, gets Alotta looks and comments at the range as well!

        Trap,

I just purchased a Winchester Model 94; SN: 2021143, and would like to determine the date of manufacture.

        Thank you!

A friend of mine at the shop just asked about an early 1894 in 30 WCF, serial 33301. No boogered up screws, wood is complete, and finish is smooth brown patina.

Thank you! This is a great thread to read through.

            Regards,
            Brian in CA

Brian, that one was made in Jan of 1898, with 20,907 made that year.
The 30 W.C.F. cartridge was added May 29th, 1895, to the first Model 1894 chambered for it, serial number 3314.

                    Winchester model 1894

Trap55, can you date this Winchester Model 1894 for me? I bought it some years ago from a gun store that told me it was a pre-64 model. The serial number is 1951098 and according to the Winchester webpage data it was made in 1952. How far off is it? Thanks in advance.

That would probably be an AH Tomkins Single Shot Target pistol, #26 of 200 made in the 50's before he died. A very unique trigger, that can be adjusted down to a fraction of an ounce. One of a very few .22's that is made to be dry fired, with no damage to the chamber.

Peter, that one was made in Jan of 1942, in the last batch before production stopped for the war. The serial numbers were in the Model 1894 range, and there was about 66,783 Model 64's made between 1933 and 1957.
