My father in law recently gave me a house warming gift, A Winchester Model 94 Serial number 461423. I was told it was made in 1910. Its rough so is there any one who could restore it or just leave it? Most of the bluing is gone but there are no cracks in the wood.

Yep, made in 1910, with 29,971 made that year.
Don't restore, or just leave it, preserve it!
Clean it. Stop any active rust, and oil it good with CLP. Rub the stocks down with BLO on a piece of burlap, wipe that off with paper towels before it dries.Comment

Hi Trap55,
I was just handed down a rifle that belonged to my great grandfather, when I came across this thread. I'd love to know when this rifle was made! It's a Winchester model 1894, serial number 968xxx. Thanks!!"The power under the Constitution will always be in the people. Made in 1924, with only 9,412 made that year. That was a low production number year.Comment

Trap, thanks for sending me to Bert. Unfortunately he could not provide anything but the manufacturing date. We have emailed back and forth and I am going to be collecting info on my father's old Winchester collection and send it to him. Hopefully he will have some more info on some of those. My father's prized Winchester is an 1886 in 33 WCF with a peep sight. A couple years ago I surprised him at Christmas with a hunting trip (myself included - of course!) to Wyoming to hunt Mule Deer and Antelope. We had the 86 shooting great groups zeroed in at 200 yards before we left. The attached picture is of him posing with his Mule Deer which was shot at 275 yards. Hearing him shoot I made my way to him. When I finally got to him, he had the biggest smile on his face I have ever seen. That was the best hunting moment of my life!Attached FilesComment
