all metal parts have been refinished in a very clean semi-gloss black. Stock has been changed out to a polymer stock. Rifle is wearing vintage redfield match grade iron sights. owner claims its a sub-MOA rifle. Its VERY heavy, but then again Im used to handling AR platforms. thanks for any info!
Cary, refinished and a plastic stock terminated any collector value the pre 64 Model 70's carry. With no scope, I wouldn't get on the plus side of $350, but that's just me.

Wow. Glad I asked, thank you for the info. I offered the seller $700, down from his $1000 asking. I'm going to have to ruin his day, supposed to meet him @ 1130 today to transfer...

Here's the win mod 70 in question:

Okay, now I can see what it is. Your $700 offer is a fair price, but I wouldn't exceed that.

Got it. Spoke to seller this morning, he said the rifle is a heavy barrel model, stock is McMillan and had been glass bedded? Would this rifle be considered C&R? Do I still need to Dros it?

Pre 64's are all C&R. I don't know if changing the stock changes that status.
If that's a factory heavy barrel, somebody really shot themselves in the foot refinishing and changing stocks. Is the original stock available? Get me the serial too.

The Model 64 was serialized entirely within the Model 94 range. Approximately 5,704 made. Offered in both Rifle, and Carbine versions. Calibers offered were .219 Zipper, .25/35, .30/30, and .32WS.
Serial # 1,583,4XX was made very early in 1949.
