That was easy! Between Preston's proactive post, Bob's use case and Tom's approval (the whole Mojave Lever Crew was Tom's original idea, anyway), I say let's do this one.

    Bingo. We have a brand.

Cannot forget Mark. He was instrumental in getting this well oiled organization started also. Deserts are cooling, a shoot is looming!

Man, I moved so far north that I'll likely NEVER make a mojave event. Come on up to Modoc, where the cows outnumber the people and the squirrels run like LA traffic in rush hour!

I am going to weld one up in steel bar so we can actually brand something after heating the brand up over a campfire.
You know that means that we all have to go camping and bring something to brand.

I think I'm gonna follow your lead and switch to cuts that don't take so darn long...
I think your going to like it, Bob. It's small enough to feed the family for a few days. If I smoke something bigger it just won't get eaten.

I like to wrap it when it gets to about 155-165 and then remove it around 185...it's so darn greasy and yummy..surprisingly, they take some time for such a small cut of meat.

Let me know if you find a better temp. I might even go a little lower temp on these.

Might want to do a little experimentation when making the brand. Sometimes junctions where the characters meet can get too hot and they blotch. The first brand I ever registered with the state of California many years was an A over a C. The state insisted that it be a Broken A in that there was a small space on the right upright where it connected to the left up right and a small space on each side of the center bar where it connected. So it was read as a broken A over C, for my ranch at the time Rancho De Alta Canada (ranch of the upper water canyon), here in Tehachapi.

My current brand is a reverse D connected N over a quarter circle. They didn't insist on any breaks or spaces in this one. I think the electric brands that are so prevalent now have a more even heat and don't blotch as much. Quien Sabe? Just something to be aware of when building and might be worth a lil experimentation. Oh and a funny little story. I don't weld but the guy that made up my first Broken A over C brand "forgot to look in the mirror" as he put it. He built it backwards without realizing it! This was a guy that had built hundreds of brands, he just forgot. He built it by looking at it from the cowside. Have to build it looking down from the people side. Redo.

Message to First Three MLCer's and the rest. This is the first time I've been able to even get on calguns in the last two days, and, when I CAN get on, it's been woefully slow. If this can't get fixed, I'll probably sign off here and start something MLC elsewhere. This is getting absurd.

It's just silly. I'm trying to sell a little Marlin 22. Apparently the pics aren't showing up in the OP and the PM that I've sent to members asking for photos...

And we don't hear anything from management about it.

It will work great for a little while and then it goes back to less then dial up speed. For me, 90% of the time it's bad, real bad.
