Looking like the seller of the 1873 is a scammer.

french mafia? yah - ok
that description is sketchy, good bore, new, refitted stock - which is it
The Winchester Model 1873 is one of the most famous rifles in American History. It's chambered for the 44 Winchester central fire cartridge. The bore is in good to very good condition, the original cleaning rods are still intact. The sights are orginal to this gun. It is fitted with new wood and finished in the Winchester style. This gun today is in as new condition, it has not been worked or handled since i bought it Factory New. This is a good looking Winchester that shows what they looked like in a bygone era.
but I guess when you're bidding on every other auction on the site, yer bound to find a dud
good catch, glad you dodged that bullet and I hope you report that fool..
I weeded an idiot out like that one time that filed a complaint against ME
the mods thanked me for helping them straighten him out
I started out with nothing - and I still have most of itComment

I don't usually sweat the gun stores, pawn shops, etc. that have a business name and web site..
but private party, I'll send an email to get an idea who I'm dealing with, maybe even a phone call if I have a lot of questions or unsure of..
and like any other gambling - don't risk any amount you're not willing to lose

Well, I have both a short barrel and a long barrel. The 336C in 30-30 was bought new around 1982. The 7.5" New Model Super Blackhawk in .44MAG was bought new around the same time. And the 4.750" Vaquero in .44MAG was bought about 2008ish. It is the large framed version.
I used the Super Blackhawk for IMSHA competition in the stock unmodified class one summer and took a couple of trophies.
All are fun to shoot. And will be buried with me.
As for barrel length, you get the length you need for the purpose at hand. Short, Long, In between is all in the job at hand. Though there can be some cross over between tasks, you use what you have and live with it if a choice is not available. B.Attached FilesComment

This seller text messaged me minutes after the auction end asking to be paid by an app.
I have NEVER had that happen so I was very suspicious.
Since he had already texted ME, I went ahead and asked for more pictures to see if he actually had possession of the gun or not because a legitimate seller who is already texting you would easily have the ability to snap a few more pictures while a scammer would NOT be able to produce more pictures because they don't actually have the gun.
His first response was that he had a family emergency and could not get me pictures right now.
I told him, no worries, handle your family stuff and get back to me later.
Scammers always try to get you to pay ASAP as they know that time on the behalf of the person they are trying to scam is going to make their scam apparent or get them figured out.
The asking for a photo on today's newspaper was just for fun because when he pulled the french mafia line, the jig was already up...Randall Rausch

Bro, you don’t want to mess with the FM. I suggest you pay and cut your losses.
Really it’s sad that scammers have infiltrated GB. You expect to see them in CL or OU or some other site where people sell random crap. I wouldn’t expect them to mess around on a gun site where sales are scrutinized heavily or it’s likely to have law enforcement monitoring regularly.Originally posted by MelvinoelGreat**My friend, your Chargers sure are looking good tonight. They are only losing by 14 at the half, not to bad my friend.Comment

I finally got to get out and break in the 1873. My boys took me for my birthday. It seemed like a .22 with .38spl. I could hear the pop but felt nothing. It's just really heavy. Anyway, the thing is a laser. I didn't have to touch the sights. Perfectly zeroed out of the box. What a fun day.

I need to get out with my portable steel target set up. It has been too long. It is so much fun and there is little to no need to reset targets. I limit it to handgun or pistol caliber rifles though I have some plates/targets that would be okay with most rifle calibers at 100 yards.Comment

I thought the same thing splithoof. We'll see.
