I finally bought my first Colt 6 shooter...

It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Or the lightest post war 6 shot centerfire? ( I have the original checkered wood grips on it, but this is the photo I have on my computer with some NIB Jay Scott pearl on walnut grips.)

It's been on the list since it returned in 2020. I had a brand new Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911 that I bought 6+ years ago with out the ILS, so it was "off Roster" .....

I bought it with plans to send to the SA custom shop but they let me down. I just kept it unfired for all these years.

I'm done buying for the year. Too many projects needs my attention here at home. Another safe is really needed. Believe it or not I've figured out how to hide a 60x40x24 safe from my wife....

I got in the habit (several years ago) of buying guns that I admired or always wanted but only shot them a little and put them in the safe.

I got mad at myself for having guns just to have them and not shooting them.

So, now that I am retired (read - poor), my goal is to enjoy these fine firearms and experiment with various loads for them. I don't hunt anymore but have enough various components for years and years of fun shooting. My private range is 7 1/2 miles from our little farm so I think I have it made pretty much.

                  BTW, very nice Python!

Nice, congrats, Mark. I'm sure you'll post up a picture or 2 once you bring it home. A python is on my want list, not sure if or when it will happen.

                            Wow! You really suck!

But, seriously... Congratulations! That is an iconic piece. Can't wait to see it.

straight to the python for your first Colt revolver?

                              damn playa - congrats!

friend from church is close friends with a Colt exec and swears the new ones are great shooters..

good luck with it and please share range report..

btw, I did something similar about 12 years ago..

although I carried several clunky Colt 1911s on duty, I never owned one until 2010..

                              my first 1911 - SA PC9111

I started out with nothing - and I still have most of it

I have a cobra but mine is only a 2" barrel so it's probably lighter than your 4" barrel.
