i also don't think the LCI or disconnect are that big of a deal in and of themselves but will echo that the choice/s should be left to the buyer, not the state. i personally wouldn't mind a LCI, disconnect, and/or manual safety on certain firearms, assuming they are all well designed and executed, but by no means want them on every single firearm.
LCI because it's like an "extra" way to press check or confirm the chamber is loaded (not that we should rely on it solely). like someone else said, most ADs come from handling the firearm. done well, it need not be intrusive, etc while still being reliable. it may just be how obnoxious the state wants LCIs to be that makes them bad.
disconnect (as well as a manual safety) can be useful too. there was a report or study i read somewhere about many officers/LE getting into a scuffle with the bad guy/s where flipping on the safety at the last second or dropping the mag kept them from getting shot with their own gun or bought them enough time in the moments the bad guy had to fumble with their gun for officers/LE to take proper action. all the while, the same report didn't show any recorded or reported incidents of external safety or mag disconnect getting any officers/LE killed. firearms w/o a disconnect or manual safety did get turned on the LE/officers in a few instances though. of course, this will inevitably vary for someone carrying openly that society knows/expects to be armed vs a "random" carrying concealed that, at least theoretically, no one should know is armed, although i wouldn't be surprised if some of the LE in the report were in plain clothes during their incidents.
