it's hard to get pass the LCI on sigs. it just really ruins them how they're not color matched to the slide and has in large letters on both sides of the LCI letting you know it's the LCI. I have an XDs and it's barely noticeable.

This probably wont make you feel any better but there are shops who are charging basically the same price for the Non-CA model. You just have to look around.

Other than it's 1.5 hour drive from OC one way (up 2.5 hours with traffic jams), which is 6-10 hours total.

Use sharpie, if it really annoys you.

OP I'll offer a different perspective on the LCI. I had a sig scorprion with an LCI that I couldn't get over. I thought it was hideous, ugly and it really made me not enjoy using the gun. However, I got the LCI slide replaced with a non LCI slide and now have a normal looking sig scorpion...and you know what?

            I LIKE THE LCI....what.....

I use the sig as my bedside gun and it's nice having the LCI that I can feel at night it need be. I also prefer not to keep a bullet in the chamber, so having the LCI pop up when I need to rack a slide is actually helpful in making a round has been chambered.

I also use the LCI gun as my intro gun to new shooters and even tho I always tell them to check a firearm and assume it's loaded, it helps them when their is a failure to fire becuase they realize a round was never chambered.

It really isn't that bad. I think most of my regret at the time was feeling like I was forced into buying an LCI being in claifornia (and not knowing about SSE until later). Now that I have a non LCI sig and a LCI sig....I kinda likethe LCI sig.

I just bought a CA compliant Sig SP2022 .40 that does not have the LCI from Turner's Outdoorsman. I pick her up in 9 days.

You should have shopped around more. My brother just SSE'd a non-CA Shield ($393) for cheaper than the Cali version ($413) at Ammo Paradise in Anaheim.

I wasnt suggesting he use EBR as his go to shop. I was just showing an example of a store that is only charging 20 bucks more for the Non-CA model. Just in case anyone else is interested EBR does business by appointment only. Pick a time/day with no traffic and drive out. Thats what I did. Addax Tactical is another option for people on the westside. No fees for SSE.

You location says OC. Maybe you can post where you purchased yours.

It's always better and cheaper around the corner. However, OP was looking for nearby OC

If you thank SSE, shouldn't you have a non-CA Shield? The one you said you wanted.

You're not Walter White's brother in law, I wouldn't worry about it.

Due to IA policies for CCW I have the CA Shield. It's ok, I'll probably sell whenever I leave CA though. It fulfills a need for an on roster CCW gun. It's reliable and easy to carry.

What would you get once you leave the state?

CK_32, if you decide you really don't like the gun and don't mind shooting 40S&W, I know someone who may be looking to trade for something CA-compliant for CCW reasons.
