VP9 Hype

For me, with actual range time with the VP9, PPQ M2 4" 9mm and PPQ M2 5" 9mm, the recoil of the VP9 is slightly less than the PPQ but I think the muzzle flip issue is so overblown on the PPQ. The trigger break of the PPQ is slighter cleaner and lighter than the VP9, but both are crisp and clean. The accuracy on both are so similar for me that there is no difference between the groups for the VP9 and PPQ.

I am a gun hoarder so I will keep and enjoy both platforms equally. In terms of overall feel when I shoot, I prefer CZ SP-01 variants more than the others. After shooting the Glock 19 gen 4, M&P9, XDM9, Walther PPQ, HK VP9, and FN5.7, I still prefer CZ over all the striker fire pistols. I still have a M&P Shield 9mm in jail, Ruger LC9S in 30 days loop, I might pick up a Sig P320 just so I can own more striker fire pistol that I will leave in the safe.

If you look at the psychology of this thread it reads more like guys who bought PPQs are now trying to convince themselves that they made the best decision over the VP9 and they are looking for reinforcement of that decision.

This results in allot of trash talk about the over gun.

Without range time on each gun i really cannot see how you can compare them both beyond the ergos and looks of the gun.

So why comment on the trigger pull and reset.

I have read enough about the PPQ muzzle flip being ugly on the PPQ if that is the case all the trigger reset should go out the window.

Ive dry fired both guns over and over again i really couldn't tell the difference but what is apparent to me was the slide was much easier to manipulate on the vp9 the grip feels much better. The over all feel of the vp9 feels much better than the PPQ and while the vp9 is pleasing to look at the PPQ is pug ugly when up against it, hell the PPQ makes a Glock 17 look badass.

I wanted a PPQ M1 for so long to go with my P99AS but after trying them both in the hand without actual time the VP9 won me over with its looks and static merits. Its on my list.

Only thing better on the PPQ was the paddle release and shorter reset.

Have multiple copies of both, still prefer a ppq vs a vp9. Ths ppq muzzle flip issue is blown out of proportion. Vp9 dpes have softer recoil though both are 100% manageable

I actually prefer the paddle releases on the HK and gen1 Walther P99's to the longer ones of the PPQ and gen 2 P99. Short and stubby, just like me.

Since you reference the 1911 in comparison to your USP, I am going to guess that you were having issue shooting your USP?

I own the VP9 and PPQ M2 4". After about 300 - 400 rounds through each gun I can say that I prefer the PPQ because of the trigger and the ergos. The PPQ with small back strap just fits my hand better than any combination I can get with the HK. The trigger on my HK is mushy, creepy and gritty so I'm really not a big fan.

I bought both guns at the same time, shot them back to back on the same range trips so no part of me is trying to justify the purchase. The PPQ is the better gun for me. Yes there is more muzzle flip but just slightly more, I can get back to target just as fast with practice.

Now I just need new sights for my PPQ the factory ones are not very good

I just paid for my vp9 but won't shoot it until the last week if December. However it felt good in my hand. While waiting for the vp9 I have picked up G19 gen4, PPQ M2 and FN FNS9. All very good striker fired guns imho, and all felt good and had good dry fire triggers. I'm planning to keep all 4 but I I don't shoot any of them well I may sell them. FWIW the closest I have ever come to shooting a gun before buying was a CZ75 before I plunked down the 8 bills for an SP 01.
