VP9 Hype

Just a heads up. I just played with the vp9 side by side with a walther ppq. Was totally expecting the vp9 to sh*t all over the walther but was VERY surprised when I got to hold them side by side. All I have heard is how the vp9 trigger is the best yet. Was shocked when the walther had a better trigger hands down. This is not "personal opinion". It was undeniable. The PPQ's trigger was WAY more crisp and smooth and the reset was outstanding. Not so with the vp9.... I was pretty bummed out to be honest. I was so excited for the vp9 and was in a little disbelief at first after everything I had heard/read.

Not only the trigger but racking the slide. The ppq felt like it was on the proverbial "ball bearings" while the vp9 was more gritty.

Just a disclaimer: I run glocks. Would never switch over entirely but was mildly playing with the idea of getting a vp9. So no hating/bashing. I have no dog in this fight. Just some objective experience. I was honestly hoping for the vp9 to be all it was cracked up to

This is not to say that the vp9 is not a good gun. The trigger was fine for all intents and purposes and I'm sure it's reliable as all hell. But just had to report, for prospective buyers, that this was a little bit of a let down.

hmm, the shield is one of the best pieces out right now for CCW so if the vp9 has anything in common with the shield that is definitely a compliment. i personally had a different experience with the vp9 and ppq. i thought the ppq was garbage and not in any way better than my p99 which i think is substandard to the standard sig 226. given that i thought the vp9 was as good as my broken in stock 226 right out of the box that is a huge thing in my book.

Exactly. ...just like all the positive reviews of the VP9 are other peoples opinoins.The HUGE difference is who's opinion are you going to base your purchase on.

This statement is just my OPINION. I tried them both side by side as well and the slide and the trigger on the PPQ felt so much betterb than the VP9. The VP9 trigger actually felt kind of crunchy. It was like night and day with the two but again it's just my OPINION.

Sorry not to be offensive, but unless you shoot them in quantitiatve manner it means nothing. Dry firing guns overall means very little to me.

That said as a long time shooter (started with G19's)

I rank them PPQ, VP9, G19.

PPQ imo is the current best striker fired handgun and it is not close imo. That said my buddy shot the VP9 better than anything I've seen him shoot before the first time with one (including a PPQ)

I'll never understand those basing they're purchases on the opinions of others. When I first got into shooting I was instantly attracted to the Sig p226, after watching and reading numerous reviews on the gun I was all but sold. When I actually handled and shot one, completely different story. I'll probably never own one.

Latest and greatest, not too long ago that was the PPQ M2. But really no such thing just another option and the more options the better.
Yesterday I took three of my .40s and ran some drills from 3 to 25. PPQ M2, M&P Pro 5" and a 12 year old lots of rounds fired Glock 22c, both the PPQ and M&P have over 600 rounds fired so not brand new but fairly new.
At the end of the day although all shot well, the old Glock ruled the day.
For me anyway, your mileage may very, but some times the old guard is the best guard.

This is true...Glock is a fine gun still. I'm not adding any more G19's but def not selling them either.
