On the flip side.. I saw a video of a guy shooting his own leg with a 1911 when he was testing out a new holster. Not sure if this would have happened with an XD in the same situation. Not saying one is better than the other.. but in this incident maybe the XD grip safety would have actually done its job.You can't tell me the grip safety is a defect. For ME, and many others, it is a great safety device that doesn't allow you to shoot yourself in the leg or foot without having your hand on it. We shouldn't necessarily need it but its a real world function that has ABSOLUTELY saved someone from literally shooting his/herself in the foot. Just like a 1911 thats been around the block a time or two, and has been around just a few years longer than the beloved glock, its a great feature to have on a gun.Comment

Considering he had a full grip and was the fault of him drawing too fast with a Serpa which can make your trigger finger go into the trigger guard it would have been the same thing. My opinions are my own and do not represent the position of other companies I may be involved with.Comment

You should look at the Glock XD-1911. I hear it's great!
But yeah, go, shoot, buy.==================

Remember to dial 1 before 911.
Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.

he had a bad draw on a bad holster (IMO). Any gun would have done the same (presuming you deactivate the safety while still in the holster)On the flip side.. Simply comes down to this
Glock= crisper trigger, bad ergonomics, lower bore axis
XD= Mushier trigger (different type of trigger than the glock) , better ergonomics, higher bore axis.
Whatever is more important to you get. Everything else they are right on par with eachother.Comment

I have a Gen 1 G17.
I have an XD9 Service.
While the XD is a good gun, I would only carry it if my Glock were somehow disabled or gone. In an uncertain world, a Glock is about as certain as you're going to get.

I was shooting a Glock when shooting a Glock wasn't cool.Comment

I have a glock 23(with about 2000 rounds thru it) and a XD9 service ( with about 8000 thru it) both great guns both dead nuts reliable.
I personaly like the XD better. It fits my hand better and I really like it out of the box.
I had to put sights on the glock, a new trigger and some sanding down on the grip to make it feel good for me.
So in the end its personal preference. There both great guns.He that lives upon HOPE will die Fasting.-Benjamin FranklinComment

I have two glocks and have shot xd's, but my fav polymer gun that i've shot is an M&P 40 with a trigger job. I really like the M&P mag release. Heck I might get an M&P 9 just cause lol it felt good. But I'll still prob keep carrying my g26.just happy to be here. I like talking about better ways to protect ourselves.

Since you said your used to revolvers, might I suggest trying both out and decide for yourself. As a side note, the Glocks can be outfitted with a NY trigger spring which mimics the feel of a revolver. I do not know of and XD that has that feature.I am about to purchase a new pistol and wanted to get some opinions on the two that I am looking at. Either a Glock or a Springfield XD in 9mm or 40 cal. I was thinking 9mm as the rounds are cheaper and I am mostly going to just be hitting the range with it. I own a few revolvers and I want to make the change to a semi-auto pistol. I know it really comes down to preference, and I have shot both, just not enough rounds through each to really make a choice. So I guess my question is, is one better than the other. Any input would be great as I want to order it this week so I can get it as soon as possible. Thanks in advance
