    xd or glock

I am about to purchase a new pistol and wanted to get some opinions on the two that I am looking at. Either a Glock or a Springfield XD in 9mm or 40 cal. I was thinking 9mm as the rounds are cheaper and I am mostly going to just be hitting the range with it. I own a few revolvers and I want to make the change to a semi-auto pistol. I know it really comes down to preference, and I have shot both, just not enough rounds through each to really make a choice. So I guess my question is, is one better than the other. Any input would be great as I want to order it this week so I can get it as soon as possible. Thanks in advance

I own a few Glocks but no XD yet. I held an XD and it really felt good in my hand, very comfortable and seemed to be built extremely well and they are cheaper than the Glocks. I believe that the XD will be one of my next guns.

I`ve had the XD40 now for about 8 months and really like it. I haven`t had any problems with it and its easy to take apart for cleaning. I have put about 1500 rnds through it so far and really like it. I don`t have a glock to compare it to but i`m sure they are a good gun also. It is up to you. My next gun is going to be an XD45 but thats down the road unless I find a great deal on one.

I also own a XD40. I love it and have never had a single issue with it. Plus they are on promotion right now with some extra mags. You cant beat the deal, and i guarantee you will love it. If you are mostly going to the range I would go for the 9mm. Ammo is a bit cheaper and easier to find.

I faced the same decision a couple of years ago. After several range trips shooting both XDs and Glocks, I decided the XD9 was the pistol for me. I have not regretted the decison. The XD just seemed to work with me better than the Glock, but both a fine pistols and you can not go wrong with either.

              Welcome to Calguns, Dallas!

You'll get lots of opinions (plus the inevitable video, which is pretty funny), but in the end both are good pistols and it will come down to personal preference (especially with respect to grip angle).

I prefer Glocks because they have lower bores and shorter, more positive resets. I also like that there's no grip safety on the Glock (one less thing to go wrong). My two cents, anyways.

Also, be sure to take a look at Smith & Wesson's M&P pistol. Definitely worth a look if you're considering the other two.

I started with an XD 40, I eventually bought another one. Then I shot a Glock 27 and I went all Glock. It is a preference thing. you need to shoot both to decide for yourself.

I think they're both about the same.I've shot both and liked them both just fine,I liked the way the XD felt in my hand so I got one. XD.40 sc
Then I had a Springer Precision trigger job and some other clean up,night sights... done. It's a pretty nice accurate little shooter.

I have never seen an XD make it through a high-round count class. Glock.

you need to hold and shoot both. I was in the same boat with my first handgun. Its all about whats best for YOU.

My dad has an XD9 and we have put probably a few K rounds through it without a single FTF or FTE.
