she didnt have her hand at the top of grip. she was pressing on the rear saftey but it wasnt fully ingauged it was a rental gun and we all know they arent in the best of shape so maybe that was also a factor?? and only the tip of her finger was able to touch the trigger. i hope this helps stormvet

With hands that small a single stack mag may be a better option then a Glock or XD. A compact Walther or Kahr maybe. With any handgun if you dont grip it like you own it(HIGH AND FIRM) the "I can't hit the broad side of a barn" effect comes into play. Or just go all out and get her a S.A. EMP, it will fit her like a glove.

I've shot an xd before. It was great. Shot the Glock before, as also great. I ended up going Glock since it seemed to fit me more. Was more comfortable than the CD IMO but both are great. Everyone is different. For some, Glock fits better, and for some, xd fits better.

Don't listen to any fanboys from both sides, decide for yourself.

HK invented the polymer frame, but Glock perfected them for mass production and brought them to the mainstream. As far as I'm concerned, any plastic-framed gun other than a HK is a Glock imitation/knock-off.
That would make glock a imitation too since HK first made it. In your example, Glock came in second, which in turn is the first to loose.

Any polymer gun after glock is just perfecting for their preferences. Not all people are a like and just give thanks for all other firearm providers for giving us all these options to choose from.

Wow, thanks for all of the replies. Like I thought it was going to going be a lot about preference, but I still wanted to hear some opinions. I do want to go shoot both before I buy, but I don't live close to ranges (South Lake Tahoe) so an afternoon range trip is not in the cards. Anyways thanks again for all the responses, and sorry for beating a dead horse.

You really need to try them before you buy. Buying blindly is never a good idea. You dont know what gun will fit you better.

I have shot a friends XD9. I can't shoot worth for crap with it. But it's not to say they're lousy. He obviously liked it because of the price tag. Until he fired my HK USP9.

You said you own revolvers. I also own a Colt Python & Smith 686. If you want something that works out of the box, less parts, you may want to go with a Glock. My G21SF is on par with my snake & Mr.Smith when it comes to accuracy. With the exceptions of how many rounds you can put in your wheelguns, Glock is pretty much a no frills type of pistol out of the box like your wheelguns. I think you can appreciate something like that.

I like my XD9. I appreciate the toughness of glocks but they feel awful in my hands.

Well if you compare replies, glock folks usually says "Glock or nothing..." and other users(xd, m&p, etc) usually says "try both to see what you like...."

How can you call someone a fanboi when their open minded??

Does anybody know of a good range in the reno area for going and renting shooting both. I know this is a CA site but reno is closer than sac. I know I really need to shoot both, just wanted to hear some pros and cons of both from people who own either one and not the other. Mostly sounds like preference other than more support for the glock, or is that not true?
