Glock: sights suck, grip angle sucks, better trigger reset, lower bore axis, easier to field strip, more accessories, safe actin safety only.

XD: Cheaper, better sights, great grip angle, higher bore axis, grip safety.

In the end they pretty much equally reliable. There have been torture tests done on the XD just like the glock and it performed very well.

The grip safety isnt that big of an issue, you dont even realize your acticivating it and i doubt theres much that can go wrong with it.

The glock is great too, in many ways its better actually. But so is the XD. You gotta make a preference choice

Owned a version of both pistols, still own a few Glocks. Glocks just work for me, easy to use, parts are available and easy to replace myself.

Just find what works for you, opinions WILL vary.

Is there something new?

ETA: Overall, the Glock's trigger is easier and cheaper to improve than the other two, and the end result (most importantly) is better as well.
I sent my XD to springer to get the trigger/reset on the same planet as my 1911. He did a very good job,it's damn nice now, for a $500 plastic gun.

I've run one-handed drills with my XD40, and I have to say the grip safety hasn't caused an issue yet for me. All of the manipulations which require the safety to be depressed also require a full grip anyway. I'm interested in learning though ... give me some experiments to try or something I haven't considered.

The XD grip safety is a design defect, as well. You cannot cycle the slide without it being depressed, which can give trouble to people doing support hand manipulations and single hand manipulations.

You can't tell me the grip safety is a defect. For ME, and many others, it is a great safety device that doesn't allow you to shoot yourself in the leg or foot without having your hand on it. We shouldn't necessarily need it but its a real world function that has ABSOLUTELY saved someone from literally shooting his/herself in the foot. Just like a 1911 thats been around the block a time or two, and has been around just a few years longer than the beloved glock, its a great feature to have on a gun.

I think he meant that it doesn't work like it should. It does not work like a 1911. The slide should be able to be pulled without the grip safety engaged IMO also. The makers overlooked this.

Fair enough, point taken. That I wish they would have fixed.

                    And let the bashing begin.....

Go to the range and shoot both. I tried one and didn't like the trigger. But loved the glock. Ended up getting a 17 and havnt looked back. I still shoot range guns to try other guns but besides the 92 fs and the 1911's I don't like the other guns.

Go to the range and try them out and others. You will be surprised. I say glock but again only you will know what you fall in love with.

It's like asking Asians vs white girls... I'm into white girls some are into Asians. Just personal preference.

Shoot a glock with a 3.5 connector and a trigger job and game over. I shot a blackwawk 1911 and my glock with 3.5 connector and a fresh trigger job and I can honestly say the pull was identical. Ended up shooting a nickel size group at 15 yards with it.

Didn't do so well with the 1911 but I only shot it 2 times. Needed to learn the feel of the gun and trigger more.

But hit a range and try their guns out. But defiantly rent a glock 92 xd CZ if they have one and a 1911 for sh*ts and gigs.

                    Edit:Fixed for z

There are a few other options out there, and better ones, in both girls and GUNS.
